Engineering, Procurement and Construction (#EPC) companies are uniquely positioned to drive #sustainability and #decarbonization given their broad end-market exposure and role as the value chain linchpin connecting suppliers to end customers. While most are at the early stages of their journey, we envision that a successful EPC of the future will embrace sustainability as a competitive advantage (sustainability embedded into corporate DNA, SBTi alignment) to drive industry-wide collaboration and adoption. Contact one of our regional experts today to gain further insights on how to approach Scope 3 and drive decarbonization along the value chain: ➡ https://lnkd.in/dvP_7C3c #RolandBerger #EPCM #Scope3 Arindam Das, Neranjana De Silva, Shelly Feng

Successfully serving Industrial Clients globally with a dedicated team of senior experts - Machinery, Plant Engineering, Energy Technology
The #EPC sector is well-placed to drive #decarbonization along the value chain – yet, most players are still in their early stages of ‘green’ awakening. While a majority is alteady able to measure #GHG, only few have set ambitious targets and defined measures to get there. Arindam Das, Neranjana De Silva and Shelly Feng from our EPC expert team have investigated the situation and propose a catalog of measure to reduce emission esp. in Scope 3. One key thing got obvious: There is no silver bullet! Please find the report in the link below... Stefan Krieger Peter Odenwälder Herweg Philippe Jaspart

AMSI (Asset Management Support Indicator) is a novel water loss performance indicator, which has been already used in Italy for planning activities of leakage management in a rational way. AMSI was used during projects, named Risanamento IV and V, of Acquedotto Pugliese SpA water utility for the aqueducts of about 60 towns among them Bari and Taranto. It was also used for the aqueducts of the towns of GAIA S.p.A. water utility (Viareggio, Massa, Carrara, Forte dei Marmi, Camaiore, Pietrasanta, etc.) and other water utilities. Today AMSI is used for the project of AcquaEnna water utility involving about twenty towns, sometimes characterized by intermittent flow. AMSI was developed starting from the #advancedhydraulicmodelling; therefore, it is consistent with system hydraulics. It has been already used in more than 150 aqueducts of different sizes and characteristics in the last few years because it is rationale being hydraulically based and incorporating the findings of the leakage modelling studies. Thus, the application of AMSI is scalable from the entire water utility to the single aqueduct, DMA, and pipe. Therefore, it allows directing investments because it can indicate the effectiveness of the activities for leakage reduction (pipes replacement, active leakage detection and pressure control). In fact, AMSI is characterized by the equity for comparing different systems and water utilities. After testing in real cases study for several years, today I am proud to announce that the paper “From Advanced Hydraulic Modelling to Performance Indicator for the Efficiency of Investments in Leakage Management of Pressurized Water Systems”, presenting AMSI and facing the topic of water loss performance indicators to correctly direct asset investments, has been accepted by prestigious Water Research of IWA and it is available online as uncorrected proof at https://lnkd.in/dJDVVD5q. The paper also analyses the performance indicators of percentage water loss (M1b for ARERA Italian regulation) and of density linear water loss (M1a for ARERA Italian regulation) in addition to ILI. AMSI boosts the use of data and is consistent with the needs of the digital transition strategies. Gianfredi Mazzolani Luigi Berardi Daniele B.
