The City of Waterbury, Connecticut, has selected construction firm @Jacobs en to operate and maintain its 38 million-gallon-per-day conventional surface water treatment plant, according to a company press release. The city estimates the 10-year contract value at $25 million. Jacobs scope of work includes engineering services and support for improvements to the overall facility, sludge system, water quality lab and treatment process, according to the release. That enhanced treatment will be achieved through upgrades to the chemical dosing system, water filtration and sludge handling facilities, said Greg Fischer, Jacobs vice president of operations, maintenance, facility services and design-build. Congrats to both City of Waterbury and Jacobs on this project. This ties nicely to my work on water, especially on need to revisit water conservation policies as part of better water management practices. As CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) and Customer Success Manager (Data and AI), I am all about the best practices including solutions that can apply to better management of areas like water. 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗥𝗙𝗜): Canada’s Treasury Board Secretariat seeks feedback from industry stakeholders, including designers, steel producers, and construction professionals. The RFI aims to gather information on steel Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and embodied carbon caps. These insights will inform potential updates to the Embodied Carbon in Construction Standard, which currently applies only to concrete projects. 𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗥𝗔𝗘/𝗜𝗖𝗖 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 240𝗣: This joint standard, proposed by ASHRAE and the International Code Council (ICC), addresses greenhouse gas emissions across a building’s life cycle. It provides a holistic approach to evaluating and documenting whole life carbon emissions (operational and embodied) in buildings.
