In a first, The President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu graced my alma mater Veer Surendra Sai University Of Technology ( Formerly UCE ), Burla at its annual convocation. It was a sublime moment as she appreciated the ISRO-VSLV Rocket Program as well as acknowledged the immense contribution of our alumni in the Chandrayaan III mission. In his gripping address at the convocation, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan lauded our work in rocketry, and remarked how the Burla ecosystem has procreated radical and disruptive ideas, busting so many stereotypes. Talent from tier-2 and tier-3 places are often underestimated, unheeded and perceived as unsmart. We have our backs up against the wall almost all the time, trudging through criticism, bureaucracy and meagre resources. Coalfields besieged with overwhelming stress and pressure have always produced diamonds. As is evident from the grand success of Chandrayaan III mission, as Hon'ble MP Shashi Tharoor fittingly called for a salute to alumni of unsung engineering colleges. Even ISRO Chief Dr. Somanath S said that “Talents are spread out over a very wide spectrum of social strata...thousands and lakhs of people who have the competency of that (IIT) nature don't get the opportunity (to sit for the IIT exam)," adding that he was one of them. At SpaceFields, we remain steadfast in our mission to solve hard problems in Defence & Space. Let’s be a diamond with a flaw, than a perfect pebble!
