Just 1% of Britain’s land is in #rewilding. That's despite an increase of 171,611ha of projects in the Rewilding Network since we set it up. We need much more! That's why we're calling for the next UK Government to commit to 30% rewilding by 2030 across land and sea to ensure nature's recovery 🌳🌊 Sign and spread the word ✍️ https://lnkd.in/errS8tJP Photos: Beaver /iStock Regenerating birch / Mark Hamblin, scotlandbigpicture.com Coastal communities / Seawilding

Rewilding produces more jobs! Research from our friends at Rewilding Britain shows that jobs in #rewilding have increased by over 400% since 2008. Within our own #Northwoods Rewilding Network, we've seen 28 businesses employ over 72 people since the network's inception three years ago. This research shows that the benefits of #rewilding stretch far beyond nature restoration. If you'd like to see more of this in the future, sign the Rewilding Nation Charter, calling for a wilder Scotland that supports nature, climate and people: rewild.scot/charter

We’ve come a long way in this industry, but our mission remains the same to establish Best Management Practices (BMP) for land stabilization pre-construction and intra-construction, as well as restoring the landscape to its native or natural beauty post-construction. #PowellRestoration #LandRestoration #GlowUp #ThrowbackThursday

𝐃𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧? Land clearing has many applications, from preparing a space for construction to helping start a sustainable garden. Whether you are clearing a small area or a large section of land, it is important to be aware of regulations that may be in place to protect Michigan's environment. If the land clearing project is larger than one acre or within 500 feet of lakes or streams, a Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) permit from the county or municipality where the land resides may be necessary before starting the project. Such permits ensure that preventive measures are taken against soil erosion which would limit potential harm caused by the activity and keep natural habitats safe. Although obtaining such a permit can seem like an inconvenience, it is well worth it in order to protect Michigan's pristine environment for generations to come. The Western North Carolina Stream Initiative (WSI) program is a partnership between Resource Institute Inc. (RI) and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) that seeks to complete stream enhancement and stabilization projects on agricultural lands in the western counties of North Carolina. Wildlands has helped to rank streams in the program through initial site assessment visits and is currently providing feasibility study, design, permitting, construction observation, and landowner coordination services to the streams identified. The streams selected for this program are experiencing erosion and migrating into valuable pasture or cropland. Projects are typically between 1,000 linear feet (LF) and 3,000 LF in length and range from 0.5 square mile to 74 square miles in drainage area. Since 2014, Wildlands has completed seven projects through construction, and is in various stages of design on an additional three projects. To date, Wildlands has been involved in over 17,000 LF of stream enhancement and restoration as part of this program. Featured in this photo is the WSI Webb’s Creek Site, located in Rutherford County, NC. This project involved approximately 1,150 LF of stream restoration, 35-ft riparian planted buffers, and cattle exclusion. #wildlandsengineering #resourceinstitute #streamrestoration #ecosystemrestoration #conservation #waterquality #westernnorthcarolina

Arboriculturist & Ecological Landscape Design Specialist at West Coast Arboriculture & Land Planning Ltd
As a leading provider of independent arboricultural and land planning advice in North Wales and the North West, we are currently receiving an increasing number of calls from landowners who have been served with section 154 notices from local authorities and highways agencies in North Wales. A Section 154 (of the Highways Act 1980) notices informs landowners that a tree on their land appears to be presenting a danger or obstruction to a public highway. These calls generally refer to complaints relating fro diseased ash trees. The Act reads as follows: "Where it appears to a competent authority for any highway, or for any other road or footpath to which the public has access— (a)that any hedge, tree or shrub is dead, diseased, damaged or insecurely rooted, and (b)that by reason of its condition it, or part of it, is likely to cause danger by falling on the highway, road or footpath, the authority may, by notice either to the owner of the hedge, tree or shrub or to the occupier of the land on which it is situated, require him within 14 days from the date of service of the notice so to cut or fell it as to remove the likelihood of danger." We can provide a truly impartial and independent assessment of the tree or trees in question, should you have concerns arising from such a letter. We have out own in-house sonic decay detection equipment, and can produce empirical, colour scans of tree stems, non-invasively.
