Texas homeowners, are you ready to cast your vote on property tax relief? Before you head to the polls, it's essential to be informed about what's at stake. Here's a quick rundown of key considerations: 1) Understanding the Proposal: Take the time to read and understand the property tax relief proposal. Know what it entails, such as potential tax rate changes or exemptions. 2) Local Impact: Consider how this relief could affect local services like schools, public safety, and infrastructure. Lower property tax revenues may lead to cuts in these essential areas. 3) Local Control: Think about whether you believe property tax rates should be determined locally or if you support centralizing control over tax rates. 4) Equity: Assess whether the relief measures are fair and equitable. Will they primarily benefit specific groups? Consider the wider implications for income inequality. Stay informed and make your vote count! Your decision can have a significant impact on your community. #TexasPropertyTaxRelief #VotingMatters #CommunityEngagement

🏡💼✨ Are you getting the value you deserve from your tax dollars when it comes to real estate and local governance? 🧐💰 Let's delve into some key takeaways from a recent poll on taxpayers' perspectives: - Two-thirds of US taxpayers feel they pay too much in federal income taxes; 7 in 10 say the same about local property taxes. - Trust in local government spending slightly outweighs confidence in federal allocations. - Majority of taxpayers do not feel they get good value from paying taxes, with many finding them unfair. - Understanding of tax calculations remains low among US adults. Veteran Housing Corp applauds all efforts to build affordable housing but would challenge the US Congress each and every local, state, and federal housing agency or affordable housing developer to do better in 2024 and beyond. Veteran Housing Corp demands permanent affordability for all projects receiving government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or other incentives! Veteran Housing Corp demands transparency and every local, state, and federal government agency and other stakeholders MUST provide answers to questions about the housing projects that are built with government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or incentives, including the following: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU

#ThrowbackThursday to a window into tax history! In 1691, England had a rather unique tax strategy: they taxed houses based on the number of windows they had. The result? A trend of homes with fewer windows and people sealing off existing ones to dodge the taxman! But here's where it gets interesting: as homes became darker and stuffier, health issues started to arise due to the lack of natural light and fresh air. It took a whopping 160 years, but in 1851, the window tax was finally repealed, giving people the relief, they needed and the freedom to enjoy well-lit, ventilated homes once again. A quirky tax tale reminding us of the ever-evolving relationship between taxes and society! #TaxHistory #WindowTax #FreshAirMatters #ThrowbackThursday #WayBackWhen #BusinessThrowback #TaxThrowback

🏡💡 As real estate professionals, we must consider the implications of proposed changes like Amendment 5 in Florida. Here are some key points to ponder: - Amendment 5 aims to adjust the homestead property tax exemption to match inflation, potentially benefiting homeowners facing financial challenges. - While proponents see it as a lifeline for residents, critics warn of unintended consequences, including increased burdens on renters and local governments. - The adjustment could lead to a shift in the tax burden, impacting services and potentially escalating rents for non-exempt property occupants. - The proposal's impact on local government revenue raises concerns about service cuts or tax hikes to compensate for potential shortfalls. Let's engage in thoughtful discussions and weigh the pros and cons before November. Your vote matters! 🗳️💬 #RealEstate #Florida #TaxExemption #Homeowners #PropertyTaxes #Amendment5 #CommunityImpact

That feeling when the House votes in favor of #affordablehousing! The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 has passed the House of Representatives with an overwhelming majority and a rare show of bipartisan support. In addition to other provisions, the bill would restore the 12.5% allocation increase to the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) for 2023–2025 and lower the Private Activity Bond financing threshold from 50% to 30% for 2024–2025, which is expected to help finance over 200,000 homes. Next stop, the senate!
