I couldn’t agree more. There are serious consequences associated with insomnia. One factor worth considering is simply the view of the patient. Insomnia is, by definition, intermittent. This can reduce the apparent “need” for the patient to mention it to their provider. It also reinforces strongly the feeling that it might be going away. As to this a lack of desire to be medicate and you’ve created a serious problem with underdiagnosis and treatment.
