Today will be dedicated to read internship CVs of people with academic degree in Sweden. Internship is a balance when there are ideas but not yet funding. If we together invest our time, then we can create opportunities. The advantage of having an innovation ecosystem and personal network is that we can adapt ideas with ideas. That blend becomes a unique approach. Then finish Fruday by writing on plan for the silicon carbide R&D initiative where I want to come to next phase of silicon carbide applications. For that we need to collaborate, build a platform that is global, and share the future together.

I am delighted to share that I have successfully completed Intel Unnati Industrial Training Summer 2023, in the field of Road Object Detection. I am happy to announce that 1,243 students and school representatives visited our company in the last six months. All of them have been taken care of by our team of Operations, Engineering and Marketing colleagues whose unrelenting enthusiasm for our product knows no boundaries. 📢 Excited to announce our new paper: "Model Merging and Safety Alignment: One Bad Model Spoils the Bunch". This work has been completed as part of my internship at Samsung Research. In this work, we tackle a critical yet overlooked aspected related to the impact of model merging on LLMs safety alignment. 🔍 Key Findings: • Existing merging techniques can significantly degrade the safety alignment of LLMs. • Even when merging with aligned models, the resulting model may become misaligned. 🛠️ Our Contribution: We treat alignment as a task in its own right and propose a simple yet effective approach to combine expert models while preserving alignment. Our method: 1. Generates synthetic safety and domain-specific data. 2. Incorporates this data into existing data-aware model merging techniques to optimize not only for domain specific performance but also safety alignment. 📊 Results: • Achieved high alignment in merged models without sacrificing domain accuracy. • Outperformed baselines across various merging configurations. • Demonstrated effectiveness with both two-model and three-model merging setups. ❓Why is this important ❓ This work opens new research directions at the intersection of model merging and safety alignment. It highlights the importance of considering safety when applying model merging techniques.
