Investments in the wind turbine recycling plants of RenerCycle in Falces and Waste2Fiber in Lumbier, both in NAVARRE, have been declared of regional interest 🍀 The Government of Navarre has agreed in its session on Wednesday to declare as investments of regional interest the project of the company ACCIONA in Lumbier to promote a recycling plant for wind turbine blades and the initiative promoted by the company RenerCycle in Falces, focused on the dismantling of wind power generation facilities and the reconditioning and repair of components from this type of facilities. These two projects will lead to the creation of 180 jobs through a total investment of 21 M€. The Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition of the Government of Navarre, Mikel Irujo Amezaga, has stated that "both projects are aimed at promoting high value-added activities in terms of industrial development and the offer of innovative products and services in the renewable energy sector, with a special impact on the economy of the Foral Community". "They thus connect with the S4 smart specialisation strategy, in its line of work to promote renewable energies, and with the Agenda for the development of the Circular Economy in Navarre 2030. In addition, as they are located outside the metropolitan area of Pamplona, they contribute to the objectives of territorial cohesion and the fight against depopulation," he stressed.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced REEMAG LLC as one the winners for Phase I of the Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize. REEMAG's patented and breakthrough magnet recycling is a low-cost and carbon-free process that converts end-of-life NdFeB permanent magnets into their original rare earth powders. DOE selected 20 teams from 15 states as winners of the Initiate! Phase of the prize for their innovative ideas to enhance wind material recycling technologies and processes. The Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize is funded by DOE’s Wind Energy Technologies Office. The $5.1 million, two-phase competition aims to help develop a cost-effective and sustainable recycling industry for key wind turbine materials not currently recycled commercially. REEMAG is honored to be among the U.S. companies selected by DOE in support of this important endeavor! https://lnkd.in/ev2b4qUv #criticalminerals #departmentofenergy #ev #renewableenergy #renewables #ndfeb #permanentmagnets

🔄 Bridging the Gap: Circular Economy and Clean Energy! 🌍 We are excited to share this insightful perspective on the profound connection between clean energy and the circular economy – they call it the "energy-circular economy nexus." 💚 In a nutshell, these two are inseparable, each feeding into the other. The circular economy fuels efficient energy use, waste reduction, and renewable energy innovation. Simultaneously, the energy transition relies on the circular economy to conserve vital resources, especially as the demand for critical minerals skyrockets with renewable growth. Seriously. These are the first shoes made with a recycled wind turbine blade sole. Around 90% of a wind turbine is recyclable, and this pair uses material from a blade that has generated clean energy for decades. A strong end of life plan for renewables is essential. In Queensland, we’re taking our first steps with an Australian first solar panel recycling pilot. Ensuring thousands of residential solar panels will avoid landfill. This is pretty cool....manufacturing companies promoting their use of clean energy is one good step, but moving the circular economy forward like this is a great step further. I would rock wind turbine shoes!! #circulareconomy #recycle #greentech #windpower #runlikethewind

While the title is a bit misleading, it is true that soon enough we have to face the end of life sustainability challenge for renewable energy assets. Having said that, there’s a lot to be hopeful for in the article that I believe, as we continue to also focus on the circular transition of the economy, that these challenges will transform quickly enough to opportunities. #renewableenergy #circulareconomy #sustainability https://lnkd.in/g_f9AHWC

Great to see this thinking. PV modules do hold value at end of life and we need to get a recycling suction in place. This will also help with closure costs. #solar #queensland #renewables

How Evonik and Uniper’s TORTE project promotes renewable energy usage Thrilled to see the launch of the TORTE project, a collaborative effort by Evonik and Uniper to develop a large-scale sustainable heating system in Germany's Ruhr region! This innovative project utilizes waste heat from isophorone production at Evonik's Herne chemical site to provide clean and reliable heating to the district heating network. It has the potential to: 1. Reduce CO2 emissions by up to 1750 tons of CO2e per year. 2. Reduce the use of fossil fuels at company sites by integrating waste heat into the existing heating network. 3. Drive innovation in circular economy solutions by demonstrating the viability of repurposing industrial waste heat. The German Chemical Industry Association VCI "Responsible Care Initiative" bestowed its top prize on the TORTE project, recognizing its commitment to sustainable energy practices. This collaboration sets a powerful example of how industry leaders can work together to address climate challenges and create a more sustainable future. Cheers to Evonik and Uniper for their vision and commitment to innovation!
