✅ #RenewableEnergy | The Lumbier and Falces #windfarm materials #recyclingplants will create 180 jobs 👉 The Government of Navarra (Gobierno de Navarra) agreed to declare as investments of foral interest the project of the company ACCIONA and that of the company RenerCycle. The former will invest 16 million euros in a wind turbine blade recycling facility that will generate 110 jobs (48 direct and 62 indirect). In the second case, the planned investment is 5 million euros for the dismantling of wind power generation facilities and the reconditioning and repair of components from these facilities. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced REEMAG LLC as one the winners for Phase I of the Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize. REEMAG's patented and breakthrough magnet recycling is a low-cost and carbon-free process that converts end-of-life NdFeB permanent magnets into their original rare earth powders. DOE selected 20 teams from 15 states as winners of the Initiate! Phase of the prize for their innovative ideas to enhance wind material recycling technologies and processes. The Wind Turbine Materials Recycling Prize is funded by DOE’s Wind Energy Technologies Office. The $5.1 million, two-phase competition aims to help develop a cost-effective and sustainable recycling industry for key wind turbine materials not currently recycled commercially. Around 90% of a wind turbine is recyclable, and this pair uses material from a blade that has generated clean energy for decades. A strong end of life plan for renewables is essential. In Queensland, we’re taking our first steps with an Australian first solar panel recycling pilot. Ensuring thousands of residential solar panels will avoid landfill. While the title is a bit misleading, it is true that soon enough we have to face the end of life sustainability challenge for renewable energy assets. How Evonik and Uniper’s TORTE project promotes renewable energy usage Thrilled to see the launch of the TORTE project, a collaborative effort by Evonik and Uniper to develop a large-scale sustainable heating system in Germany's Ruhr region! This innovative project utilizes waste heat from isophorone production at Evonik's Herne chemical site to provide clean and reliable heating to the district heating network. It has the potential to: 1. Reduce CO2 emissions by up to 1750 tons of CO2e per year. 2. Reduce the use of fossil fuels at company sites by integrating waste heat into the existing heating network. 3. Drive innovation in circular economy solutions by demonstrating the viability of repurposing industrial waste heat. The German Chemical Industry Association VCI "Responsible Care Initiative" bestowed its top prize on the TORTE project, recognizing its commitment to sustainable energy practices. This collaboration sets a powerful example of how industry leaders can work together to address climate challenges and create a more sustainable future.
