I got the opportunity to tell them what Equinor is doing as a broad energy company to respond to the challenge of our time: The supply of Affordable, Reliable and low carbon energy!
As they were travelling to see Northern Lights later that day, I got to tell the story about how Equinor’s CCS (Carbon capture and storage) history began with Sleipner in 1996, where we separate the CO2 from the gas to achieve commercial sales specifications, but also capturing and storing the CO2 safely deep below the seabed! That’s the experience we’re building on now in our efforts to commercialize CCS through Northern Ligths and further with our gamechanging CO2HighwayEurope project
Hopefully we’ll see a lot of collaboration with countries in South East Asia in the future. This is a strategic growth market for Equinor through our Renewables and Low Carbon Solutions business.

It has been a big week for the Japanese business community with the Australia-Japan Conference wrapping up for another year.
Exciting to hear major Japanese shipping companies are joining forces to set up a global liquefied #hydrogen supply chain!
"K" line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd), Mitsui OSK Lines Maritime (I) Pvt Ltd Line (MOL) and NYK Line have each taken a 16.6% stake in marine transport research company, JSE Ocean.
The companies intend to safely operate the world’s first liquefied hydrogen carrier by 2024, a promising step in the future of marine transport for renewable energy.
This is positive progress in helping facilitate international energy supply chains.
JSE Ocean is a liquid hydrogen research company that was set up in June 2021 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of AHC member Japan Suiso Energy (JSE), itself a subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.

Black & Veatch have created a new plan which will involve studying green hydrogen commercial pathways in Malaysia. This task will be performed in order to decipher what the country’s energy ambitions are.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and PETRONAS, Malaysian energy companies, appointed Black & Veatch to this task. The overall aim of this investigation will be for the two companies to conduct a joint feasibility study and the second half of the project will involve validating the finding of this study.
The article below focuses on a new study which will soon be taking place and which will be focused on hydrogen opportunities within Malaysia. It has been made clear that each part of this project has been planned out, with the overall aim being to figure out the feasibility of hydrogen projects within Malaysia.

With this, we have the world’s first oil and gas fields - Snorre and Gullfaks - running on offshore wind energy, reducing CO2 emissions with 200,000 ton/yr.
In my mind, equally as important as the CO2 reduction is demonstrating that this actually can be done!
The world's largest floating offshore wind farm Hywind Tampen officially opened today! We are proud to be part of this historic and important pioneer project on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. 😀 ❤️
Gullfaks and Snorre are the first oil and gas platforms in the world to receive power from offshore wind, reducing CO2 emissions ( 200 000 tonnes annually).
Congratulations to the team - Equinor, Petoro, OMV, Wintershall Dea and INPEX Idemitsu Norge 🏆

It’s a match 🤝 🖊️ Yamna is thrilled to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with #JPOWER, one of the largest Japanese power producers (https://lnkd.in/eu7V97ZV) for the joint development and investment in green hydrogen and ammonia projects.
The Partnership, stemming from a successful working relationship, takes roots in the excellent synergies between the two organisations:
⚡J-POWER is a power generation company aiming net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, the group is planning to steadily replace coal-fired power plants with CO2-free hydrogen and ammonia power generation ones; and
♻️Yamna is a leading green hydrogen developer and investor. The company is actively engaged in the identification and development of several green hydrogen and derivatives projects, with a focus on the most concrete and imminent use-cases, among which green ammonia production in regions with world-class renewable energy resources with an export angle to the most attractive demand centres, such as Japan.
🌏Under the partnership, the Parties agreed to jointly develop and invest into green hydrogen projects worldwide which are either based on Yamna’s existing pipeline or additional projects to be jointly originated.
Stay tuned for some exciting project announcements!
