Yesterday, Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP announced funding outcomes under Round 15 of the Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P), and you'll notice two West Aussie companies on the list! A huge congrats to the Avicena Systems and VeinTech teams on this awesome milestone! More about the WA awardees 👉 Avicena Systems focuses on swift and precise detection of infection in symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals is critical in higher-risk settings such as aged & health care, maritime industries, and defence scenarios. Driven by novel biochemistry from UNSW/BioPoint Inc., the new platform will be faster than conventional gene-based tests, offering a highly (>99%) accurate and scalable substitute for lab-based (PCR) diagnostics, with low running costs. VeinTech aims to eliminate the guess work associated with cannulation, the most common invasive medical procedure. The company’s solution is the VeinWise, a handheld ultraportable device designed to assist with visualising veins and help clinicians find the right vein, first time, every time.
