Jimmy finally announced how much revenue he made from the video he posted to X (Twitter). It turns out he made $264K from 125M views, which is a lot higher than most people thought ($10K). Here are some important things to consider: 👁️ A view on X is not the same as a view on YouTube. If someone watches a video for at least 3s on X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, it’s counted as a view. YouTube only counts views if someone watches for 30s. 💰 X ad sales network is still incredibly small compared to YouTube. 📢 A lot of brands jumped on this because the video was gaining a lot of attention. I think the big takeaway is that there is the opportunity to make money on the platform, but I obviously think the revenue share will not be as high as what Jimmy's RPM was. It’s still not as much as one of his videos on YouTube. If you’re windowing your content, can’t hurt to try out videos on X. #creatoreconomy #mrbeast #twitter #marketing

He made $1.68/1000 view (RPM) on X. And that is from X having a much more lenient definition on what a "view" is. So, might as well post on both YT and X I assume is the takeaway? Because it's additional revenue? But RPM doesn't hold a candle to YT. Like you said, "X ad sales network is still incredibly small compared to YouTube." No one is going to leave Twitch, YT, etc. if the RPM is so low. Higher than TikTok at least!

I had no idea about the youtube 30sec requirement. That explains SO much.

Not everyone is Jimmy's level though - hard to duplicate the success but it does show X still has some potential

Reed Duchscher views and revenue are great but I’m sure behind the scenes a much deeper dive on metrics and how they compare to YT for things like avg watch time, Ad impressions per view, geographic location of views (USA vs), etc. Any insights on these type of consequential factors appreciated as they go a long way to adding to understanding of outcomes. .

Thanks for this level of transparency. There’s a lot to unpack from your analysis but my take home is that it’s worth trying out. The good thing is that brands would have the opportunity to explore their options and engage an untapped audience on X (twitter). I’m looking forward to more traction on this.

Spot on. Not only are the metrics defined differently on each platform, but performance on a specific platform will vary drastically with the characteristics of the video, the poster, and how that influences the ads paired with it. We have videos with millions of views and negligible revenue and other videos with <100K views yet thousand of dollars of revenue. It's best to focus on the bottom line - the revenue generated - and not obsess with the breakdown.

Shocked to hear that people are still using that antisemitic app. Let alone, bragging about how much they made from it. Very gross.

The big takeaway is that Musk is desperate for attention and will throw money at anyone willing to sacrifice their integrity for a few pieces of silver. The last thing Mr. Beast needs is videos being posted on a platform that will clog his comments with insanity. Advertisers are fleeing the platform because of Musk and Mr. Beast provided a small island of safety to advertise. X is not where the audience is. Mr. Beast's video was literally crammed into people's feeds over and over again to juice the numbers.
