My unscientific impression is that more data scientist job listings now ask for data engineering and software developer-related qualifications. I noticed this in a recent MITRE Lead Data Scientist job posting, and I've highlighted the lines that reflect this (maybe?) trend. I don't think this is inherently good or bad, just something to keep in mind both as a data scientist and if you manage data scientists and are considering what they'll want to learn to stay current. 🤷♂️ What is a job role of a Data Scientist? 🚀 ✅ An analytics specialist known as a "data scientist" is in charge of gathering, examining, and interpreting data to support organizational decision-making. A mathematician, scientist, statistician, and computer programmer are just a few of the conventional and technological occupations that are combined in the data scientist function. It incorporates the application of scientific concepts with the use of sophisticated analytics methods like machine learning and predictive modeling. ✅ In order to develop and test hypotheses, draw conclusions, and analyze things like customer and market trends, financial risks, cybersecurity threats, stock trades, equipment maintenance needs, and medical conditions, data scientists frequently have to work with large amounts of data as part of data science initiatives. ✅Data scientists work with organizations to find information in data that may be utilized to anticipate consumer behavior, spot fraudulent transactions, find new income streams, and fulfill other business requirements. For healthcare providers, educational institutions, governmental organizations, sports teams, and other kinds of organizations, they also provide important analytical work. Excited!! If you're interested in pursuing a career as a data scientist, contact us by email at '[email protected]' or by calling 9004063651.

If you're a data scientist (or engineer, designer, or do product or acquisitions) and you're interested in working for the federal government, one place to look is the U.S. Digital Service, or USDS. They hire remotely as well as in DC. They worked on the recent Direct File project from the IRS, and they just put out their annual impact report highlighting the following projects: 💡 Building software with CDC 💡 Cutting red tape in Medicaid 💡 Responding to a formula crisis 💡 Giving Veterans better access 💡 Delivering COVID-19 tests 💡 Using human-centered design 💡 Bringing households online 💡 Building agency capacity 💡 Reducing burden for parents The report is here: https://lnkd.in/eBjjVZkN You can apply here: https://www.usds.gov/apply

Little PSA I've spoken to a surprising number of companies who are painfully unpicking problems all due to hiring their first data scientist. This commonly occurs when they hire for this deeply technical role without having someone on their hiring committee who is credentialed in this field. Without having an expert on on their committee who can properly assess the candidates competency companies are asking for problems. For the sake of a small investment for a 3rd party data Scientist, these risks will be mitigated.

One of the pain-points I heard from data leaders last year was that it can be hard to justify hiring a data engineer. Hiring a data scientist or analyst is generally easier to sell to the business because their work is immediately tangible. Many data scientists and analysts are also great at building SQL and notebooks workflows that can take data from Data Lakes and process it into a usable format. So why even hire data engineers? This is a question so many companies have run into. The truth is, companies can get away without data engineers for a little bit. But here’s what often happens. 1)Tech-debt starts to build 2) Lots of pipelines and data workflows get set-up for one-off requests 3) No one ever thinks about data governance 4) Even small changes risk breaking multiple critical flows 5) No one wants to own any of the above This has happened time and time again. It eventually comes to a head once the CEO is tired of dealing with conflicting numbers, slow dashboards and the constant "we can't change that, or something might break" responses. If you're that CEO or a data leader who needs to have that conversation with the CEO, then let's talk!

Am I a data engineer or a fire fighter 🧘🏿 Day in the life of a Data Engineer includes 1. No matter how much work you close before the weekend, new day new problems 🎁 2. Develop queries ⌨️ 3. Share sample data for data sanity with source and business teams 💾 4. Day to day project related issues and solutions 🪛 5. Ensure all data pipelines are in place and data reaches designated teams to avoid escalation 🆘 6. Take some help from colleagues, senior management or business teams to not get stuck over a problem 🚒 7. Work on compliance, yes, that's a routine 🌇🌃 If that sounds cool, get your hands dirty. #data #dataengineering #banking #engineering #growth #workexperience
