In a recent presentation, the question of what defines a genuinely diverse agency sparked meaningful reflection. It's a question without a singular answer but serves as a constant reminder for Ketchum UK and the industry to keep evolving. At the core of our journey is Inclusion – a commitment to broader progress coupled with personalised support for each member of our team. As leaders, we acknowledge that our success is not only measured by our achievements but also by the areas that demand our focused attention and development. Yesterday evening, Ketchum UK was honoured as Diversity Champion 2023 at the International Communications Consultancy Organisation (ICCO) awards. This recognition is a testament to our collective efforts in championing diversity, inclusivity, and positive change within our industry. It reinforces our dedication to making a difference and serving as an inspiration to others. These achievements not only validate the tangible impact of our endeavours but also propel us forward on our journey toward a more inclusive and equitable workplace. And your people are very aware of where you sit in landscape. I've been at Jellyfish for over 10 years now, and I've always been conscious we have been at the forefront on this space. BUT, inside me, I know it isn't enough. We still have disparities, and many things we continously miss (or are bias), so we clearly need to do more. And, why not, share it with the world. Is It Safe to Be You? During a spring visit to Bergen, my 4-year-old daughter, Tiril, posed a question: “Mom, can children go to jail in this country?” I reassured her, “No, my dear, we’re still in Norway, where children are not imprisoned.” She then asked if adults could face jail time. I replied, “Yes, if someone commits a serious offense.” June marks Pride month, and I’m heartened by the widespread allyship and support from individuals, communities, and organizations toward the LGBTQI community. While it lasts only a month, it comes with a value commitment for the full year. Personally, I’ve never feared imprisonment due to my identity or faced discrimination based on whom I love. The idea of others merely “tolerating” my sexual orientation has never crossed my mind. But how can I truly understand the LGBTQI experience? I can’t. Yet I have a choice: to be an ally and celebrate - or be neutral and merely tolerate. I’ve invested time in learning and forming my own convictions. I celebrate Pride because I believe all people share equal value. We should celebrate one another, not merely tolerate each other. Everyone deserves to feel safe and be true to themselves, loving whom they love. In Norsk Hydro, we proudly embrace #Pride. Our understanding grows with each lesson, emphasizing its importance. This year, in collaboration with Amnesty International, our theme is “Safe With Us - Everyone is welcome in Hydro" — safe to express themselves and love whomever they love. No one should be excluded or face imprisonment for being true to themselves, whether in Bergen or any city worldwide. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈🌈

The Washington Post is reporting what we at RW3 CultureWizard have known all along: That the focus shouldn't be on diversity or on politically-charged terms, but rather on the concept of inclusion. Though that, of course, does not mean you can't focus on diversity or on building equity, inclusion is key. At RW3 CultureWizard, we define inclusion as the behaviors that allow others to feel welcomed, valued and appreciated. It's really hard to be against letting others feel welcomed, valued or appreciated.
