I don’t often have to work on the weekend. But when I do it is to teach our teams “Best Practices” from setup to execution. This weekend we replaced compensation ropes on a high elevator (400’ of travel) were modernizing. The shackles were babbitt, and had to remain babbit due the clearance restrictions. This afforded me the opportunity to teach my teammates how to make the ends up (good old rosettes), a lost but a pain in the ass art 🤣🤣🤣 When all is said and done, we now have another team equipped with the skills necessary to perform this work in the future. (Worst case I am always a phone call away 😉) Build Elevators, Build Escalators, But Above All… Build Each Other. Enjoy the rest of your weekend y’all 😊 #yourelevatorpal #elevators #skilledtrades #training #teamwork

Mid month team training at Winsford Hill : Ropes 😀 Our training calendar each month has a specific focus, with July being “Ropes month” where the focus is on rope rescue equipment and techniques. 🪢 This training saw the team out on a stunning evening on #exmoornationalpark building anchors suitable for a variety of #roperescue situations. 🪢 In a round-robin, three groups built single, double and multi point anchors systems using natural features (#trees); looking at suitable anchor points on #vehicles; and were introduced to our new stake anchor system. 🪢 Breaking down complex systems into smaller components allows #teammembers to better understand the underlying principles, pose questions, take the time to explore different approaches, and gain confidence and familiarity with equipment and techniques. #exmoorsearchandrescue #mountainrescue #roperescue #roperescueequipment #roperescuetraining #roperescuetechniques #MondayMotivation #learningnewskills #hilux #hilux4x4 #landroverdefender #landroverlover #landroveroffroad

Introducing some vehicle searches into Ravens training. We have put a lot of emphasis on detailed search with Raven to prepare her for her potential new odour. It's always fun to apply this to new objects but also important to vary the context for her. #detection #dogtraining

Really useful session today
Amazingly thorough and informative session at the Yorkshire Back Exchange meeting regarding the basic items that could/should be covered on a LOLER thorough examination of a gantry/overhead tracking system. A real eye opener. Why is there no standardisation of items to be examined? How can some servicing companies engineers take 5-10 minutes whilst others take between 35-40 minutes. Any companies out there want to work together and create some basic guidelines?? Thanks to John Kershaw and the team at Simply Moving for hoasting and for guiding us through LOLER examinations.
