DOJ Recommendation in the Uvalde School Shooting “Officers responding to an active shooter incident must be prepared to approach the threat and breach or enter a room using just the tools they have with them, which is often a standard-issue firearm/service weapon.” You cannot over-emphasize the importance of real-time information to first responders.

When faced with a dynamic, rapidly evolving, and dangerous hostage situation with an armed man, thee Cheyenne Police Officers performed admirably and heroically. Despite the Officers best efforts to use de-escalation tactics, the suspect chose his fate when he fired upon the Officers. He and he alone is responsible for his death. Law Enforcement Agencies must make sure we train our Officers for these hectic situations. Getting away from block and silo training and engaging in realistic forms of training that engages multiple skill sets and abilities. Training must provide our Officers the tools to be able to adjust to situations and effortlessly switch from one tactic to the other rapidly. Trainings that combine firearms, less than lethal, defensive tactics, and de-escalation tactics provide Officers with a more realistic ability to respond to non-static situations and scale their response appropriately based on the threat/situation they are facing. You train as you fight and if you do not training properly you will fail. We must give our Officers the proper training in dynamic situations so they can be successful and safe. #police #policeofficer #policeofficers #officer #officers #lawenforcement #lawenforcementofficer #cop #cops #sheriff #policechief #policedepartment #p1 #iacp #deputy #marshal #constable #criminaljustice #criminaljusticesystem #copscountpolicematter #policingmatters, #policematter #policing #policeman #criminallaw #law #communitysafety #publicsafety #leadership #leadershipmatters #leadershipdevelopment #book #reading #booklovers #bookdiscussion #bookclub #leadershiplessons #leadershipmindset #badge #leadershiptraining #firstareaderthanaleader #policetraining #lawenforcementtraining #training #effectivetraining #afteractonreport #criticalincidentreview #education #administrationofjustice #policescience FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. This is a UK policing story, but applies to much of the Western world. According to The Times, "less than half the public trust police to solve crimes". This impacts on trust and confidence in policing, in general. BUT there is a solution - with human Super Recognisers and our image management system, your law enforcement agencies can solve lots more crimes at little cost. You can also target prolific and violent offenders. This system can be implemented in weeks. https://lnkd.in/egP6ckBD

I think this is a very interesting debate which, as James rightly says, must demonstrate the willingness of our Police Service to undertake internal investigations as thoroughly as any potential criminal act. However, the way in which such investigations are undertaken is of the utmost importance to both the Service and the Public; in my opinion, these will always be amongst the most critical investigations undertaken. Police officers deserve and must receive a completely fair, balanced, and unbiased hearing, like everyone, they are innocent until proven guilty. I do worry that those under investigation may sometimes feel that senior leadership may not be fully behind them, and that will always impact morale in the wider Force. I do, of course, also understand the enormous pressure on the COG, and particularly the CC, to be seen to act appropriately. An ill thought-out comment or action can do irrepareable damage. Cops must have confidence to do their job without the concern that people are looking for an opportunity to find fault, it’s a job that very few have the skills, apptitude, and sense of public service to do. I don’t envy our CCs, but I do believe this is a balance only they can deliver. That’s what Leadership is!
Seen lots of debate online about whether 'To Catch a Copper' was good for policing. I thought it was a really interesting watch, it certainly opens up conversations and shows that the police do investigate matters reported against their own. It also shows some of the issues with the disciplinary system, hopefully these will not prevent victims from reporting. Being open and showing what happens within the service (regardless of which department it is) I think is a good thing, shows the struggles the police face, we care and gives policing a voice which sometimes is lacking in the media.

Another British Police Force goes into special measures - this time Nottinghamshire. The Inspectorate of Constabulary has ordered the force "...to immediately review all crimes, which appear to have inadequate supervision, to identify suspects and assess the level of risk they pose to the public." My team can really help with the identification of offenders - especially if they have been captured on CCTV or other recording devices. Few forces have systems in place to maximise the opportunities presented by images. We can help you. If you are a Notts officer, who wants to improve matters OR if you are in law enforcement anywhere in the world, I can assist you to identify more criminals and make communities safer. This will improve trust and confidence in policing. https://lnkd.in/etxS-eqk

Talk about a force multiplier for Fugitve Warrant Squads. Departments can load their municipal warrants to supplement the already loaded and automatic NCIC warrant alerts. Look at the scope of warrants and how they can impact your crime rate. My city is roughly 650,000 in population and had about 15,000 active warrants when I left. Just do the math😬
