The Utility Analytics Institute (UAI) issued a weather prediction challenge. The weather data challenge – “Is It Always Sunny in Philadelphia?” – asked teams to create a data model that would predict the temperature and humidity of a neighborhood in Philadelphia, PA. REC’s team, with members from BrilliT, was one of two winning teams. The REC & BrilliT team included Hesen Peng, Eugene Hamrick, Inina T., Larry O., Anthony Cerrato and Ayla Choudhery. Great work! #datamodel #dataanalytics #challenge #utility #winner

This second video explores Data Visualisation looking at Breast Screen Rates and the different ways the same data can show different insights. Data visualization is a powerful tool for presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner. One way to improve its effectiveness is by incorporating administrative areas into visualizations. This allows us to easily understand the geographic distribution of data and identify patterns or trends specific to certain regions. The use of administrative areas is particularly beneficial in areas such as public health, urban planning, and resource allocation where informed decision-making is essential. #datavisualization #geographicdistribution #publichealth #urbanplanning #resourceallocation

How do you find the exploding areas of #growth? The two maps here represent time slices from Bexar County, Texas encompassing the city of San Antonio between approximately 1960 and 2020. These data, captured at the property level by CoreLogic, illustrate current analyses to isolate the areas of regional expansion today and where you might look for new regions of growth in the coming years. The analysis uses core indicators of growth that identify land in transition through its stages of #realestate #development. The objective is to find areas of growth…before they begin to grow. CoreLogic has created a series of maps that illustrate our methodology in creating a new data product (see the link below). This past month, we ran our VERY FIRST weather data challenge called, "Is It Always Sunny in Philadelphia?" This challenge was open to all UAI Utility Members and asked them to create a data model that would predict the temperature and humidity of a neighborhood in Philadelphia, PA. Given the unpredictable weather across the northeast, we were impressed with how accurate these models were and thank everyone who took time to get involved with us! The competition was close and we decided to choose two winners based on their accuracy in temperature and humidity. Please help us in congratulating the following two teams! WINNER: San Diego Gas & Electric - Phi Nguyen, Ph.D. - Yumin Moon - Gavin Schag - Kasra Mohammadi WINNER Rappahannock Electric Cooperative - Hesen Peng - Eugene Hamrick - Inina T. - Larry O. - Anthony Cerrato - Ayla Choudhery Over the next few months, we look forward to launching additional data challenges for members to get involved with. Members of UAI can view all submissions for this challenge and be made aware of future opportunities through UAI Connect: https://lnkd.in/et83G8qv Thanks again for everyone who took time to get involved with us and we look forward to your participation in the next challenge! What is the best way to effectively and affordably implement data processes in your park agency or organization? Join us for our member-exclusive peer conversation, a follow-up to our January webinar, which will look at strategies for making data a part of your organization’s DNA in order to address challenges in your park system. Hear first from members of the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board’s Data Insights Team, which has centralized data and projects within their organization. Then we will dive into a conversation in smaller groups where you can discuss your own efforts around data. Even if you haven’t operationalized processes yet or have a constrained budget for data and technology, we encourage you to share where you are and think about how you could incorporate some of these strategies into your work.
