WHAT – Stories have the power to make a difference and create change. In the wake of blockbuster film Sound of Freedom (2023), global awareness of human trafficking is at the forefront of conversation. Join Rahab’s Daughters for our Vision Night event where we will shed light on the dark world of human trafficking. We will discuss how our organization works to educate the community, rescue and rehabilitate survivors, and inform the nation on how to be a part of this important work. WHEN - This informative session will take place virtually, Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 7PM CST. The event is free to the public and requires registration found here. This online meeting will be hosted by celebrity radio personality and tv host Eve Gomez. WHY - No one is safe from human trafficking and no community is immune. The only protection is to learn how to recognize the signs that you or someone else is in danger. Human trafficking doesn’t start with a kidnapping and end with a rescue. It starts with society turning a blind eye. It lasts long after the survivor gets away. That’s where we come in. Through education, outreach, and awareness building, our team shines a light on this $63 billion industry. Through working with hospitals and first responders, we help people escape trafficking. And through compassionate rehab, we help them remake their lives. WHO - Rahab’s Daughters is more than an organization: it is a growing movement of volunteers, donors, action-takers, and world-changers, working together to fight human trafficking. At Rahab’s Daughters, we believe that no one is alone. No matter how dark your situation, our community is here to shine a light, to be a beacon toward a better life. We come together as one to provide compassion, passion, and determination. Together, we give people trapped in modern slavery a chance to take control of their lives. Keep your eye on this young man! He is going places! While we come from different generations we have a shared experience: Surviving trauma in foster care and adoptions. Some things don't change. Listen in as Karlos Dillon and I discuss our similarities, what we learned from our experiences, how we turned trauma into passion, and what can be done to help others in similar situations. https://lnkd.in/g-yw3sG3

🕊️ As we journey through Lent, a season of reflection and renewal, let's draw upon our faith to shine a light on the darkness of human trafficking. This period calls us to reflect not just on personal growth but on how we can serve others, especially the most vulnerable among us. 💡 Scripture inspires us to 'act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God' (Micah 6:8). These words remind us of our duty to fight against injustice, including the scourge of trafficking that affects our communities both near and far. 🌿 Lent is a time to consider what we can give up, but also what we can give back. Let this season motivate us to give our time, effort, and resources towards ending trafficking. Whether through volunteering, educating ourselves and others, or supporting survivor services, each action we take plants seeds of hope and change. 🤝 Our faith teaches us the power of collective action guided by compassion and justice. As a community, we can be a beacon of hope for those caught in the grip of trafficking. Together, we can build a world where freedom and dignity are upheld for everyone. 🙏 Let us pray for the strength to stand against trafficking and for the healing and liberation of all who are affected. May our actions reflect our faith, and may we be instruments of God’s peace and justice in the world. #LentenReflections #FaithInAction #HopeAgainstTrafficking

The next time you order your coffee, I urge you to think about this: Your partnership with She Is Safe holistically transforms these lives – for about $1 a day. In a twelve-month period, She Is Safe programs prevent, rescue and restore over 73,900 individuals. So, if you give up a cup of coffee every day for one month, that’s one life saved. What you would have spent on your next coffee run, you could: -give her a safe home -provide vocational training -offer income generating alternatives for families that might otherwise sell her.
