Say hello to a very familiar, friendly face at #RadyChildrens! 👋 Karl Anthony has been bringing the power of music to our kids & their families for two decades through our unique Healing Arts Program. “Music helps people breathe a little deeper, relax and be fully present with what’s in front of them. It’s such a supportive component of the healing environment,” says Karl.

Today, the BEAM Team Resource Group hosted their second annual #Juneteenth event with food, music, massages & an educational celebration!🕺🏾 Juneteenth marks the final wave of enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, freeing all remaining enslaved Africans in the US. Long celebrated in the African-American community, the holiday was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021. 🎉 Today & every day, #RadyChildrens is dedicated to recognizing & supporting our team members who identify as Black, African American, Caribbean, West Indian, of African descent or Multiracial.

Graduates, farewell! 👋🎓 #RadyChildrens FACES for the Future program recently celebrated the graduation of 43 high school students. This program is committed to engaging & preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. 🥼 This year’s senior showcase & graduation was supported by a few #TeamRady leaders: Dr. Gail Knight, Dr. Charles Davis, & Dr. Michael Levy, as well as Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Nancy Maldonado. Before Amanda was born, she was diagnosed with Pentalogy of Cantrell (POC), a group of five congenital defects of the heart. In addition to POC, she had a narrowed aorta & an incomplete sternum. When she was born, Amanda was immediately transferred to the #RadyChildrens CTICU to receive the best possible care from Dr. John Nigro, Division Chief of Cardiac Surgery & Cardiac Transplant Services, & neonatologist Dr. Jose Honold. They diagnosed Amanda with PHACES syndrome, which includes several anomalies, ectopia cordis (the heart lying beneath a layer of skin), & a vascular tumor in her face. Within a week of her birth, Amanda underwent surgeries with Dr. Nigro to repair her aorta & fuse her sternum together, which were successful! 🌟 5 weeks later, Amanda was ready to go home! Today, Amanda is a healthy & happy 2 year old girl! 👏 She is under the ongoing care of her Rady Children's team, including a cardiologist, neurologist, otolaryngologist (ENT) & dermatologist. Spotted! 🔍🇲🇽 Rady Children's physicians presenting their work at the 55th annual CONAPEME, the largest pediatric conference in Latin America! 🌟 Held in Guadalajara, Mexico, this event brought together over 6,000 pediatricians from across the region. Our physicians, representing ENT, Neonatology, Cardiology, Pulmonology & Endocrinology, were proud to showcase their innovative research & collaborative efforts with our Latin American partners. 🤝

This week, Kaleidoscope, a staff-led group, proudly raised the LGBTQIA flag at #RadyChildrens, showing unwavering support for every child, family & team member in our diverse community. Kaleidoscope is dedicated to fostering inclusion for all LGBTQIA people at #RadyChildrens, empowering them to live authentically. 💙 This #PrideMonth and beyond, we proudly highlight Kaleidoscope's efforts to engage our community in personal and professional growth through education, networking & outreach.

Today marks the Working Fur Kids Giveathon! 📺🌟 Tune in to CBS 8 San Diego to learn about the canine resident therapy program we are introducing at #RadyChildrens. This initiative aims to provide vital support to patients and families navigating challenging medical conditions through the assistance of clinically trained dog & therapist teams.
