To introduce our Founding High School Faculty, I'll be sharing some clips of interviews I've conducted with each of them about their educational vision and philosophy. You'll see why we're so excited to have them on board with us at Tessellations School. I'm inspired by the brilliant minds, caring hearts, and capable hands that each of these teachers will bring as they craft learning experiences for our students at Tessie High. First up: our Founding English Teacher, Tess Tran. In the first of several clips that I'll be posting from her in the days to come, you'll hear her speak about the value of an education in English: "It is the ability to critically examine mythologies and narratives that continue to shape society. If we're not able to recognize the power of narratives on society, and on us as individuals, we become passive consumers; we absorb narratives about ourselves, about other people, and about the way the world should work. My goal is to help students critically examine the narratives that surround them and decide: 'Do I believe in this or not? Do I want to accept this? Do I want to reject it? Do I want to change it?'"

Our new study is out today! Schools are safer and more inclusive for minority students when teachers value cultural diversity, are satisfied with their job, and experience empathic anger when witnessing situations of ethnicity-based mistreatment. Importantly, teachers' multicultural beliefs are a matter of school safety. The study is published in collaboration with Yulia Nesterova, Ph.D., Elena Semenova, Elvira Fatkhulova and Jessica Truch. https://lnkd.in/ghWwhT8K

Our Headmaster on 'Finding the superpower within every child': "You will find in RGS that we talk as much – if not more – about character, as we do curriculum. Our character education, like invisible but indelible fingerprints, covers everything that we do and is firmly rooted in our values. "In our Junior School, we refer to our values as Superpowers, introduced by our effervescent Junior School Head, James Miller, are lived and breathed in daily Junior School life. The students’ loyalty and motivation to live their school-life by this code is a sight to behold, and fundamental to our happy and cohesive Junior School community. "In the Senior School, while the vernacular is more mature, the sentiment is consistent and woven, like golden threads, into everything we do. "A culture which enables every child to find and polish their own values and superpowers, whatever they may be." Read more here >>> https://lnkd.in/et_VwTYm #superpowers
