Today is National Heat Awareness Day! Created by OSHA, National Heat Awareness Day is held on the last Friday of May and serves to highlight the dangers related to heat stress. Any job site—indoors or outdoors—that can raise a worker’s internal core temperature increases the risk of heat stress. Our Heat Stress Fast Facts Brochure offers more information about the dangers of heat stress and some steps you can take to prevent or minimize heat stress hazards. #NationalHeatAwarenessDay

From Eaton County Emergency Management: EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH issued June 16 at 3:14AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by US National Weather Service Grand Rapids Michigan 🥵WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 100 possible. 📍WHERE...Portions of central, south central, southwest, and west central Michigan. ⏰WHEN...From Monday afternoon through Friday evening. ⚠️IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. ➕ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat index values near 100 degrees will have a cumulative affect through the course of the week. Temperatures at night will only fall into the 70s. So, the affect of the heat will build through the course of the week. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
