Expert in Supported Accommodation | CEO | Founder | Chairman | Entrepreneur | Property Investor | Strategist | Innovator | Award Winning Leader | Education | Children's Services | Board Member | Corperate Governance
⚠️ ⚠️ Caution all Supported Accommodation Providers ⚠️ ⚠️ Fake Trainers, Bad Advice, Fictitious Leaders! I cannot recall how many times over the last year I've been horrified at the poor advice being given to providers going through regulation. I see and hear the vulnerabilities and anxiety felt across my sector at such scale, and it really bothers me that there are cowboys out there exploiting that. I have seen inexperienced 'professionals' market one stop solutions to passing registration with Ofsted. I have been horrified at the sheer scale of costs being put on providers by inadequate 'trainers' or 'leaders', taking advantage of those who genuinely want to access quality training, well established support groups, and build their skills and knowledge. I see 'associations' popping up, requesting personal company information from providers with no governance in place, no established board, no clear vision and having done nothing for the sector except use the experiences of those around to push their own agenda and profit margin. I see providers being misled, badly advised, and put in worse positions as a result of them reaching out for help to the wrong people! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - If you're joining a group, do your research, ask for governance information, don't provide any details without knowing how they will be used or stored. Request a CV from potential trainers or get recommendations from other providers or local authorities. I know what we are facing can feel really overwhelming, but there are genuinely qualified and experienced people out there to support you. There are free resources available through the right agencies, local authorities deliver local training for local providers, and there is a fully established, fully accountable, non-for-profit national association that costs less that £3.45 a week with loads of resources, training, support available to everyone from the Supported Accommodation sector - National Association of Supported Accommodation Partners (NASAP). You will get through these changes, registration is achievable, Ofsted are supportive, and you are not alone in your journey... choose your community carefully. #SupportedAccommodation #Regulations #ofsted #quality #thinkbeforeyoubuy #pleaseshare

🖋️Managing shared, supported accommodation, and providing support to residents with a range of needs is a skilled job. Staff must have adequate experience, or be provided with adequate professional training, to enable them to carry out their duties safely and effectively. 🖋️ When we are assessing, we are looking at if your staff have had informal or formal training, how they have retained this information and if they thought it was effective! Training courses and options need to be varied to meet the varied needs of clients. 🖋️ A few of the training sessions we would expect front line staff to have attended are pictured below. #RegulationOfSupportedAccommodation #ExemptAccommodationRegulation #QualityStandards #SocialHousingStandards #ExemptAccommodation #ExemptAccommodationBirmingham #SupportedHousing #ukhousing #UKSocialHousing #SEAQS

🚍 Coach update: The European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) has just voted in support of the European Commission’s proposed specific rules for #coachtourism. But, unfortunately, it only kept the flexibility provided on break time rules. The other proposals, which rightfully considered the differences between coach and truck drivers, were not included in the opinion report. We count on a better understanding of the coach driver profession by the European Parliament’s Transport Committee, which is next in line to vote on this matter. If followed closely, the Commission’s proposals will: • Benefit drivers, tourists and operators • Contribute to better rules and improved safety • Offer tailored rules based on the specificity of the coach tourism sector, thus improving drivers’ working conditions and the attractiveness of the profession
