Today we are celebrating 75 years of Qantas operations in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 On 26 June 1949, a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster propeller aircraft arrived at Kai Tak Airport, marking the first ever Qantas service to Hong Kong. The flight travelled between Sydney and Hong Kong via Darwin and Labuan, with a total journey time of over 20 hours. The history of Qantas in Hong Kong captures the remarkable development of the aviation industry, with services operated by DC4 Skymasters, Super Constellations, Lockheed Electras, Boeing 707s, 767s and 747s. Today, Qantas operates daily flights from Hong Kong to Sydney and Melbourne on the Airbus A330 aircraft.

Excited to see Qantas's ad on a double decker bus when visiting my beautiful hometown -Hong Kong a few days ago.
The approach into Kai Tak was always amazing, heading towards Hong Kong Island then the steep bank to make the low approach over the city to the runway, fond memories.
It was quite the celebration at the QANTAS lounge in HK last week 👏 75 years is quite an achievement, look at how the world has evolved since , and Qantas with it ✈️
One of my memorable Hong Kong flights was HKG to SYD on a B707-338 Combi. Capt Fred Fox was in command and as the aircraft had a cargo load we all had to be weighed at check-in to compute the precise take off weight. This was in June1969 but still remember this trip.
Hi! Do you have email address of Qantas Public Relations, Marketing or Qantas Brand Team which I can asked for requesting about Qantas please? Thank you!
Flown on all, except the Super Connie. They were “Blokey” days then.
Today QPJ is wisking passengers to HKIA .. congratulations @qantas on 75 #Qantastic Years to Hong Kong 🇭🇰
Sad how the engineer's are never in a photo always just flying crew sad really 😢
Even in photos, the Kai Tak approach looks like an impressive feat. 🛬

3moIn 1974 I was very fortunate as a schoolboy to arrive into Kai Tak airport on a BOAC VC10 (seated next to the engines) and depart on a Qantas B707. The whole experience was so memorable I just had to make a life out of aviation (and 12 years living in Hong Kong )🤗
