🌟 Today is #MentalHealthDay2023, and the National Parents Council in Ireland wants to shine a light on the vital importance of mental health for both our children and parents. 🧡 , The theme of #MentalHealthDay2023 is to identify and unite behind mental health as a universal human right, to improve knowledge, raise awareness, and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health! 👨👩👧👦 As parents, we play a crucial role in nurturing the mental well-being of our little ones. By providing a supportive and empathetic environment, we can help our children develop the emotional resilience they need to navigate life's challenges. 🌈 💚 Let's start conversations about feelings, encourage self-expression, and remind our kids that it's okay not to be okay sometimes. Together, we can create a safe space where they feel valued and heard. 🗣️ 🤗 But remember, parents need care too! Self-care isn't selfish – it's a necessity. Prioritize your own mental health, seek support when needed, and set a positive example for your children by showing them how to prioritize their well-being. 💪 🤝 Join us in raising awareness for Mental Health Day and spread the message that mental health matters for everyone, young and old. Together, we can build a healthier, happier future for all our families. 💕 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #ParentsofIreland #ChildrenofIreland #SchoolsofIreland #ParentingJourney #StrongerTogether #NPCIreland #WellBeing #FamilyFirst

🌟 As we bid farewell to POC Health Month, we want to leave you with some reminders👇🏾 For Young People of Color, the path to mental wellness can often be fraught with obstacles, from systemic inequalities to cultural stigma. But here's the thing: Our mental health matters, deeply and unconditionally. ❤️💜💛 We deserve more than just survival—we deserve to thrive, to feel seen, heard, and valued in every aspect of our lives. As we move forward, let's carry with us the understanding that our struggles do not define us; they strengthen us. Every tear shed, every battle fought, is a testament to our resilience and our unwavering spirit. And as we navigate this journey, let's remember that we are not alone. Together, we can create a future where mental health is not a privilege but a fundamental human right. So, let's keep raising our voices, keep advocating for change, and keep uplifting one another. Because our stories matter. Our voices matter. And our mental well-being matters. 🧠 ✊🏾 #POCHealthMonth #MentalHealthMatters #StrengthInUnity #YouthEmpowerment

Today is International Men's Day, and we want to take a moment to reflect on the discussions we had this past week on the important topic of 'Zero Male Suicide.' #PreventingSuicide #ZeroMaleSuicide #internationalmensday
It's International Men's Day! Over the past week, our community participated in a series of impactful seminars centred around the crucial theme of 'Zero Male Suicide' in honour of International Men's Day. See some of the highlights from our sessions. We had a series of speakers from Help for Heroes, Andy’s Man Club, Andries Pretorius and a Talk Club session held by two of our SJP Mental Health First Aiders. “The Wellbeing webinar, with Andries Pretorius, was really powerful. His story moved me, and his focus on building mental resilience through nutrition is something I’ve never properly considered, but feels pretty life changing. When we’re talking about #PreventingSuicide, I feel I gained some vital tools, which I will be sharing with my husband, sons and friends.” "Such a powerful session, it really hit home, and it was so useful to come away with some simple, practical steps that everyone can take to support their mental and physical well-being" #IMD #InternationalMensDay

🌟 Our Minds, Our Rights 🌟 On World Mental Health Day 2023, we're spreading the message loud and clear: "Mental health is a universal human right." It's a call to action, a reminder that we must prioritise, educate, and advocate for the mental well-being of all. In Australia, 1 in 5 people faces mental illness, yet stigma often prevents them from seeking help. This year, let's break down those barriers, especially for our beloved seniors in Aged Care Homes. Remember, mental illnesses are curable, and timely care is key. Here are some strategies to support the mental health of older individuals in Aged Care: ✨ Promote Social Interaction ✨ Foster Independence ✨ Provide Mental Stimulation ✨ Encourage Physical Activity ✨ Ensure Proper Nutrition ✨ Offer Mental Health Support ✨ Manage Medications ✨ Schedule Regular Health Check-ups ✨ Create Comfortable Living Environments ✨ Involve Families ✨ Educate and Assess Regularly As we celebrate World Mental Health Day, let's make a collective commitment to prioritise the mental wellness of our seniors. By showing empathy, understanding, and taking action, we can create a world where mental well-being is a cherished right for all generations. Join us in this vital mission! 🤝❤️ https://lnkd.in/dkstQKdj #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #SeniorWellness #OurMindsOurRights

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY - OCTOBER 10TH 2023 "Our Minds, Our Rights" This year's theme is "Mental health is a universal human right". The key messages from WHO this year are: 1. Good mental health is an integral part of our well being. 2. Mental health is a universal human right. 3. Everyone has the right to access quality mental health care. 4. Mental health conditions are a significant threat to the wellbeing of young people. 5. We must challenge the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health. 6. We all have the right to live independently and be included in the community. 7. Good quality community mental health services and supports are crucial for all our futures. 8. Recognizing mental health as a universal human right empowers people to stand up for their rights - and for those around them. 9. You might know your mind - but do you know your rights? Every person's mind is wonderful, complex and different. But our rights are the same. #WorldMentalHealthDay

The Impact of Minority Status on Access to Mental Health Services: Breaking Barriers for a Healthier Future 💪🌈 Today, let's shed light on the challenges faced by minority communities in accessing mental health services. Systemic barriers, cultural stigmas, and disparities in resources often hinder equitable access to care. It's crucial that we recognize and address these inequalities. By promoting culturally sensitive services, raising awareness, and advocating for inclusive mental health policies, we can break down the barriers and ensure that everyone, regardless of their minority status, has equal access to the support they need. Together, let's strive for a future where mental health services are truly accessible to all. 🌟❤️
