The idea of a project partner or partnership should not be seen as a burden or intimidating effort, although at times it can certainly feel that way. Community partnerships come with a range of formality levels, and are ultimately dictated by your library/organization's goals. Generally speaking, long-term, multi-phase partnerships do involve more paperwork, delegation, management and agreements (in other words, time and resources). However, community partnerships can also be informal with verbal agreements and passive input and exchange of resources from each party, for example. If your library is not in a position to shoulder the task of a long-range project and partnership, you can still build robust community connections by recruiting community partners for smaller projects and outreach initiatives. At the end of it, what makes communities and community partnerships successful are the relationships formed. #partnerships #communitydevelopment #libraries
