We're thrilled to be celebrating Fair Wild week! We have been committed to supporting Fair Wild since our inception.... Why? Because if people can make a dignified livelihood from wild collection, they will not leave the rural areas or do activities that negatively impact the environment and key ancient knowledge about plants will be preserved. This is what FairWild defends. #ThePowerofWild #FairWildWeek #Weusewild #organics

Project Manager of Nature Conservation Management Project | Conservationist | Habitat Management Specialist
Our long-awaitied visitor, one of the most important target species of conservation concern, the Critically Endangered (CR) Yellow-breasted Bunting (YBB) was discovered in our paddy field! Due to habitat loss and hunting, YBB's global population significantly declined by 80% or more in past two decades. This is what a heartening moment for our nature conservation management project in Shui Hau to see a few YBB using our paddy field! This finding recognised and affirmed our habitat management effort and the importance of paddy field rehabilitation as a Nature-based Solution for wildlife conservation. https://lnkd.in/guqGscHC #hkbws #TheHongKongBirdWatchingSociety #BetweenMountainAndSea #NatureConservationManagementForShuiHau #ShuiHau #Lantau #YellowbreastedBunting #NaturebasedSolution #WildlifeConservation #CriticallyEndangered #IUCN #RedList

Honey bees are known for their construction of perennial colonial nests from wax, the large size of their colonies, and surplus production and storage of honey, distinguishing their hives as a prized foraging target of many animals, including honey badgers, bears and human hunter-gatherers. Only 8 surviving species of honey bee are recognized, with a total of 43 subspecies, though historically 7 to 11 species are recognized. Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the roughly 20,000 known species of bees #bee #honeybee #pestycontrol
