Tanks need a little "wiggle room" to accommodate changes in temperature and pressure.  ✅ Flexibility is Key: Attachments, like solar panels, should allow your tank to expand and contract without restriction. This flexibility can prevent structural weaknesses.  ✅ Torque Matters: Over-tightening bulkhead nuts, especially in tanks with chemicals, can cause damage. Case Study: Heat Exchanger Rupture and Ammonia Release On June 11, 2008, a tragic incident at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company plant in Houston, Texas, resulted in one fatality and six injuries due to a heat exchanger rupture and subsequent ammonia release. This case study explores the critical issues of emergency response, maintenance procedures, and over-pressure protection that led to this catastrophic event.
