Our engineering team continues to grow more! Bob Z. has experience from Curated , BitGo and Juul Labs and is a graduate from the University of Waterloo! Bob loves driving boats, fishing & has a secret Youtube channel where he vlogs them both 😉 Fun fact - He's actually caught a 110 lb tuna fish 💪 Welcome to the team Bob!

It’s hard to be good at something without failing along the way. This trailer is a reminder to me of some of the failures we’ve experienced on our ranching journey. I learned two things from buying this trailer: 1. I got hustled - I bought this trailer on a classified site, they said it was in good shape, clean title but they didn’t tell me the entire frame was rusted out. 2. This trailer, had it been in good shape, would have had zero purpose. It’s not designed to move cattle and our horses hate small trailers. It now sits in our pasture with no functional purpose but it’s a great reminder that we’re going to fail, learn from our mistakes, and get it right eventually. Embrace the failure, celebrate the failures cause it’s in those moments we can choose to learn and grow.

Cattle and crops. That’s what a lot of us make our living on and know best. But what if adding one more species to your operation could not only improve your soil health and forages but also offer another revenue source throughout the year? Kevin Lynch shares the pros and cons of multispecies grazing as well as what beginners need to consider in Season 7, Episode 16 of the Casual Cattle Conversations podcast. About the Guest: Kevin Lynch currently works in the Research Service Department at the Noble Research Institute where he is involved in forage and soil sampling and monitoring. He has worked with Noble for 17 years but has been passionate about small ruminants and grazing for over 40 years. What started as a 4-h project turned into a career of caring for land, soil, large and small livestock as well as exotic animals. High density grazing has 3 main elements: Is (1) High animal impact, (2) Non selective grazing and (3) Time control. These 3 elements make the system as high density grazing and on the following video we're going to be going over them. The hay last mile is the distance that hay takes from hay bale to hay feeder. It is the weakest in hay technology today. It starts with the hay loading process in a wheelbarrow. This process consists of some steps. The stud hands manage this process manually for all stables. First the hay bale is divided into portions to load in a wheelbarrow. One wheelbarrow has enough hay for about 4 horses. This process takes quite a long time and it is dangerous for humans. The mass of dust rises into the air during the loading process and humans breathe this in. There is such a thing as “farmer lungs” in rural areas in the US. That means the farmer breathes in dusty air all the time. For example, the stud hands need 2 hours for feeding 20 horses. Sometimes the hay bale is located outside. So, the bale may get wet or may be a good place for dogs and cats. The animals leave their wool and sometimes they can leave their droppings. 🤌We really like to build the big scenes! 🛠️ We often go to the limit. Time and conditions on the place are our biggest opponents, but we don’t give up! 💪😎 #wemakeevent #bigscene #stage #layherscaffold #scaffolders #rigging #stagetechnicians #stagebuilders

So when commercial fishermen go out they usually take a crew of about 3 to 6 guys to handle the potential catch. Yes some boats have more depending on how large it is and how many fish that they harvest from the sea. They when they are loaded up or our of bait, they return to shore and drop off their payload, which then goes into a factory where many staff are waiting to process the harvest. Now I don’t know the process in a fishing factory but working a decade in lumber now doubt it works similarly. The fish must be separated into species, grades, sizes, and what not. And before I move on, the season of fish runs do, no doubt determine what process is used in the factories. So but now back to the fishing story and the point of this tale. A few peeps catch a large amount of fish, which is then processed by more people than who caught them. Works the same in mining or the lumber industry whereby a few harvest the lumber in comparison to the many that process the lumber in a lumber company. Back in my day 1981 – 1990 we had about 900 staff in just one location processing the lumber. We would never see 900 people up in the woods cutting down trees and driving them down to their final destinies for just one company. I am getting down to my point, a point that has been made in several other messages, and that point is…drum roll please… We should not be sending out the whole church to do the fishing for men and equipping so few to care for the harvest once it comes in. Ha, ha do you see it now?

Any new seedlings at your ranch? If you are grazing your ranch correctly, you should be seeing new seedlings each year, are you?
