Is the Solutions Engineer / Sales Engineer role getting more popular? I was talking to a VP at a successful tech company about a year ago and he said they basically built the company by hiring Solutions Engineers. Since then, I’ve been hearing “Solutions Engineer” more and more. It makes sense. Instead of having an AE without technical knowledge who needs to invite an SE with technical knowledge to join the sales process at some point, you can just combine those two roles into one.
