Cases of COVID-19 and its subvariants have risen in recent months, and are expected to continue to rise throughout the summer months. In a recommendation released last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends updated COVID-19 vaccines for everyone six months and older, regardless of whether or not an individual was previously vaccinated for the disease. #COVID19 #Vaccines #CDC

Getting Vaccines If You Recently Had COVID-19. If you recently had COVID-19, you still need to stay up to date with your vaccines, but you may consider delaying your vaccine by 3 months. Reinfection is less likely in the weeks to months after infection. However, certain factors could be reasons to get a vaccine sooner rather than later, such as: personal risk of severe disease, risk of disease in a loved one or close contact, local COVID-19 hospital admission level, and the most common COVID-19 variant currently causing illness. https://lnkd.in/dSwibzYK #vaccines #health #covidvaccine

And chronic viral infections such as the herpesviruses may modify this risk as being studied at NIH and elsewhere. https://lnkd.in/eSx9aH-z As findings emerge, this may become an additional utility of vaccines against such co-pathogens to SARS-CoV2.

CDC Recommends All Americans 6 Months And Older Receive At Least One Dose Of Updated COVID-19 Vaccine The New York Times (9/12, Mandavilli) reports the CDC “recommended on Tuesday that all Americans 6 months and older receive at least one dose of the latest Covid shots, the last of a trifecta of vaccines intended to prevent another surge in respiratory infections this fall and winter.” The move comes after the FDA “approved reformulated Covid vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna” on Monday. Some members of a CDC advisory panel that met Tuesday “were unsure about recommending the new Covid vaccines to younger adults, or had misgivings about potential side effects, especially in children and young males.” And “others worried that endorsing the vaccines for all Americans might undermine messaging about the greater need among those who are at highest risk from Covid, including older adults.” However, “the committee ultimately voted to endorse the new vaccines for everyone, citing data showing the short- and long-term risks of Covid at any age.” https://lnkd.in/ePeJCgii

Protecting yourself from #Alzheimer’s disease ? Get vaccinated!!! Indeed, this study showed that being vaccinated with Tdap/Tp for tetanus and diphtheria, with or without pertussis , receiving the herpes zolster and the pneumococcal vaccines offers significant protection against Alzheimer’s disease. This clearly makes Physicians for Informed Consent narrative one that should not be followed… Protecting oneself from preventable diseases protecting you from Alzheimer’s is a clear benefit in favor of vaccination… This study compared two similar cohorts identified using propensity score matching (PSM), one vaccinated and another unvaccinated, with Tdap/Td, HZ, or pneumococcal vaccines. For the Tdap/Td vaccine, 7.2% (n = 8,370) of vaccinated patients and 10.2% (n = 11,857) of unvaccinated patients developed AD during follow-up; the RR was 0.70 (95% CI, 0.68–0.72) and ARR was 0.03 (95% CI, 0.02–0.03). For the HZ vaccine, 8.1% (n = 16,106) of vaccinated patients and 10.7% (n = 21,417) of unvaccinated patients developed AD during follow-up; the RR was 0.75 (95% CI, 0.73–0.76) and ARR was 0.02 (95% CI, 0.02–0.02). For the pneumococcal vaccine, 7.92% (n = 20,583) of vaccinated patients and 10.9% (n = 28,558) of unvaccinated patients developed AD during follow-up; the RR was 0.73 (95% CI, 0.71–0.74) and ARR was 0.02 (95% CI, 0.02–0.03). https://lnkd.in/eXbGDytk
