The Relationship Between Alcohol Consumption and Health
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), worldwide, 3 million deaths every year result from the harmful use of alcohol. It represents 5.3% of all deaths.
The harmful use of alcohol is a causal factor in more than 200 disease and injury conditions.
Drinking alcohol is associated with a risk of developing short- and long-term health problems.
Excessive alcohol use has immediate effects that increase the risk of many harmful health conditions.
➡️ Motor vehicle accidents
➡️ Violence
➡️ Alcohol poisoning
➡️ Risky sexual behaviors
➡️ Miscarriage
Over time, excessive alcohol use can lead to the development of chronic diseases and other serious problems, including:
➡️ High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and digestive problems.
➡️ Cancer of the breast, mouth, throat, esophagus, voice box, liver, colon, and rectum.
➡️ Increasing the risk of getting sick due to the weakening the immune system.
➡️ Poor school performance and learning problems, including dementia.
➡️ Mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety.
➡️ Unemployment, family problems, and job-related problems
➡️ Alcohol use disorders, or alcohol dependence.
My Personal Rx:
1. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and in moderation. Limit your consumption to one drink per day for women or two drinks or less per day for men.
2. Avoid drinking if pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
3. Find a hobby or activity to replace alcohol consumption.
4. Seek help if you think you may have an alcohol problem.

3wThe glorification and advertising of alcohol to more groups has really grown with social media. Having ‘mommy juice’ or that glass of wine every night. The number of women suffering liver damage from alcohol is increasing. It is terrible how popular casually binge drinking has become.
