In Utah, there are 14 r@pe crisis centers. RRC is the only standalone r@pe crisis center in Utah. In addition to providing critical support to survivors of sexual violence, we also work toward preventing sexual violence. Did you know that Utah does not have ongoing funding dedicated to preventing sexual violence? Over the past several years, the legislature has approved one-time funding. However, the amounts and timing of this funding vary, making it challenging for organizations to do this prevention work sustainably. Utah State Board of Education standards require prevention to be addressed in junior high and high school health classes. Many districts and schools partner with organizations like RRC to help deliver the approved curriculum. However, it is up to each organization that engages in this work to find funding to ensure we are able to address this critical issue. I invite you to join UCASA, RRC and our 13 other partners across this state to advocate for ongoing state funding to address sexual assault prevention and healthy relationships with youth and their families. Please note, this is different than other efforts other groups are working on. This request is to sustainably fund work that UCASA, rape crisis centers like RRC, and other front line organizations are engaging in.
Today we are joined with other rape crisis programs throughout the state to kick off our sexual assault prevention request, PREVENTION NOW = A SAFER UTAH. Utah has high rates of sexual assault but we know prevention is possible. Sexual assault is a community problem that requires a community response. We are asking for an ongoing 3,250,000 for sexual assault prevention for the 14 rape crisis centers throughout the state and community-based organizations/ frontline service providers engaging in sexual assault prevention work. Join us in this effort and stay tuned on how you can help! #preventionnow #saferutah #PreventionFirstUt

FAQ: How can communities work to prevent domestic and family violence? Answer: Communities can work to prevent DFV by raising awareness through education and outreach programs, supporting local shelters and services, advocating for stronger laws and policies, promoting healthy relationship behaviours, and providing resources and support for both victims and perpetrators seeking help. Encouraging open dialogue about DFV and reducing stigma are also crucial steps in prevention. #empoweringwomen #endviolence #endviolenceagainstwomen #endviolenceagainstchildren #domesticviolence #penrithcommunity
