💡 Endless Debate in Power Electronics: LLC vs. DAB! In power electronics, it's easy to get caught up in endless discussions about which topology is "best" for a design—LLC, CLLC, DAB... But as I've learned through years in the field, it’s not just about picking the right topology. What really matters is how much time you spend refining it and testing in the lab. Bruce Carsten once demonstrated the design of a multi-kilowatt flyback converter at PCIM, proving that it’s not about the choice of topology, but how much you put into making it work. See for example here: https://lnkd.in/d9N4Paum So, instead of endlessly debating, let’s fire up the soldering iron and create some real-world results (hopefully, just soldering smoke this time 😅)! #PowerElectronics #Design #EngineeringLife #LLC #DAB #RealWorldTesting #LabLife

Another day, another converter tackled – this time, it's the LLC converter!⚡ A 48V/480W load was taken as the case study. Delving into the intricacies of plant design and control loop design has been an enriching experience. Quickly grasping the theory behind the plant and voltage-mode controller design was rewarding. Yet, what truly captivated me were the adjustments and valuable LTSpice techniques employed to achieve swift convergence times. 🛠 These insights promise broader applicability beyond LLC converter design. Now, the next frontier awaits: delving into LLC’s current-mode control and its variations.🚀 Do you have any recommended sources for diving deeper into this fascinating subject? #PowerElectronics #LTSpice #EngineeringEducation #FeedbackWelcome #DCDC #Control #LLC

I have seen many others (and I did it on my first-ever PCB) use a split ground plane for the "isolation" of analog and digital signals. Will signal integrity improve? NO!!! Except for this singular case. A fascinating read: https://lnkd.in/gbduz44M

Battery is more important right now
Battery cell monitoring systems use embedded sensors and microprocessors to collect real-time data and transmit it to a control center. When abnormalities are detected, the system triggers alarms and executes protective measures, such as disconnecting circuits or adjusting charge/discharge rates to ensure battery safety. Relay test units are used to test the operation of relays under various conditions and simulate fault conditions to test system responses.

A relay event reveals the DNA of your power system. Learn how to analyze it thoroughly, and you will find significant flaws in your power system. We have all the fancy microprocessor relays, but unfortunately, we barely utilize their capabilities. When I decided to analyze relays thoroughly, I found the following: 1- 20,000 arc flash labels were significantly incorrect 2- Some breakers needed repair 3- Some transformers were undersized 4- Short circuit protection was inadequate 5- Wind farm design issues 6- Capacitor sizing was inadequate 7- DSTATCOM issues 8- Some relays were misprogrammed 9- A few other issues No money spent, no labor, no engineering services cost- Just by utilizing existing tools, you can find issues and solve them. You have the power to be a powerful power engineer. You have the power to be a powerful power engineer. You have the power to be a powerful power engineer. Learn how to maximize relay events fully!
