A shoutout to a couple of the awesome #climatetech founders we get to work with. Andy Hill and Mike Capps at Planet Price. As investors it's a privilege to work with founders tackling #climatechange. We're helping Andy and Mike with their go to market strategy, branding and storytelling. Listening to Andy explain why he founded Planet Price and to Mike about how his 6year old daughter Ava said he had to join as a cofounder because he needed to save their planet. It's really inspiring and makes us want to do everything in our power to help them build a global company having global impact. Planet Price allows government ministers, agency heads, company directors, executives, staff, the public and consumers to ask a simple question.. "What's the planet price of this??? What's the planet price of this new product, service, trip, building, infrastructure project, etc.. Is there a better option that achieves the same outcome at a lower Planet Price??? Giving the Planet a seat at the table and making the true cost to the planet transparent as a simple and comparable dollar value is what Planet Price does. It's no longer acceptable for people to make purchasing decisions on the financial price only, it's time we also considered the planet price. If you would like to find out more about Planet Price please reach out to Andy or Mike. www.planetprice.io

Thanks Stuff for your articles on Good Grub over the weekend, they captured the excitement I also feel!!! I literally didn't sleep for a few months when I first found out about this game changing insect that can help our planet. Climate anxiety has been bobbing up and down in me since first watching Al Gore's An inconvenient truth almost 20 years ago. Anyone that watched the brilliant Patrick Gower: On Ice Antarctica documentary like me probably got an extra burst recently of feeling really uncomfortable. Thanks Patrick Gower and Justin Hawkes for creating this super important doco. They say the antidote for anxiety is action, well thats very true for me. Before starting this business I had no idea about the exciting world of Clean tech, it's been a joy discovering that there are hundreds of companies like ours trying to use technology to help reduce our impact on the environment. These initiatives need support and it's also so great to know that impact investors are moving into this space to help to fund it. Seeing as we are in fundraising mode - I wont be subtle about it - this quote from Larry Fink is for you investors! “the next 1,000 unicorns won’t be search engines or social media companies, they’ll be sustainable, scalable innovators – startups that help the world decarbonise and make the energy transition affordable for all consumers” I know we have a long way to go and there is a lot of work to do. But right now I am so glad to be in the clean tech world as it has helped me to replace some of my climate anxiety with hope - I am so glad you felt the same way Rob Stock.

Lately, I've been mostly consumed with following geopolitics and big companies in the ocean economy. But I wanted to find a way to keep up with the startup world, some emerging trends, and share some interesting things I find during a week of research. So here's a short newsletter that I just pushed out on Saturday morning. Something quick and fun for the weekend. Links this week include a TechCrunch roundup of latest investments by Katapult (including about half of them in oceans) and a great article from the The Surfer's Journal about finding quiet spaces. https://lnkd.in/gx8es2c6 #blueeconomy #oceans

Senta Slingerland on #WorkingWith Neil Harbisson A series on Mesa Company's LinkedIn Since working with Neil Harbisson, I think much more about how we are designed and how we build things in our environment to help humankind. We were filming the behind-the-scenes of his Mesa, and during his interview he said: “Imagine how different the world would be if instead of changing the world around us, we changed human beings to be more adaptive. Imagine how it would be less disruptive to the planet”. Neil told us an analogy that stuck with me: “What if instead of creating billions of lights and causing light pollution, we gave ourselves night vision, as seen in cats?” Neil showed me that changing ourselves, instead of changing our environment, can be a real game changer. His view of a cyborg is not about being tech, fashionable, or cool. It’s about making Earth a better place. ____ *Working With* is a limited edition book released by Mesa Company in February 2023. It compiles learnings that some of the most extraordinary professionals from our time had from working with others in a Mesa, this extremely result-oriented environment. Until the end of April, we will share a few of those learnings. We hope they inspire you the same way they have been inspiring us.
