Each year, approximately 1.7 million Americans are affected by sepsis, and a staggering one-third of patients who pass away from sepsis, had it during their hospitalization. This highlights the urgent need for effective strategies and interventions to combat this life-threatening condition. In 2023, Hoda Asmar, MD, MBA, chief clinical officer, reported that our care initiatives aimed at decreasing sepsis mortality saved an estimated 1,250 lives. Our updated procedure incorporates a standardized order set for blood tests, fluid resuscitation, blood pressure management and the critical step of early antibiotics within one hour of sepsis identification are key parts of our approach to saving sepsis patients lives. September 13th was World Sepsis Day. Over 1.7 million people in the United States get sepsis yearly, a leading cause of critical illness and hospital mortality. One in three patients who die in the hospital has sepsis. While anyone can develop sepsis, it is most common and especially dangerous in older adults or those with weakened immune systems. The CDC has recently launched a new effort to strengthen recovery and survival rates for sepsis patients, by ensuring that hospitals have effective teams and resources to diagnose and treat sepsis quickly. Physicians need to know the updated sepsis guidelines, be better aware of patients at higher risk, and provide optimal care and outcomes through an aggressive multidisciplinary approach. Sepsis kills more people than heart attacks and stroke combined and yet we have no dedicated in-hospital sepsis response teams. MI and stroke patients have a dedicated team that arrive at their bedside within minutes and sepsis does not. Also in need of out patient sepsis clinics that GP's can refer patients on to that are at higher risk of developing sepsis for closer monitoring. Time to invest in sepsis if we want to see results. #sepsis #prevention #notrocketscience #realaction #resources

CDI Education Director-HCPro/ACDIS empowering individuals through CDI education to be committed to lifelong learning and professional growth
In CDI, sepsis is a big deal. Sep 2, Sep 2.5, or Sep 3 criteria. Whichever you are using, the goal is patient care and saving lives. In case you didn't know, September is Sepsis Awareness Month. Having had sepsis myself, it is so important to bring awareness to not only our healthcare teams, but also the public, to educate on the signs and symptoms, treatments, as well as the recovery. Sepsis is the body’s life-threatening response to infection that affects 1.7 million people and takes 350,000 adult lives in the U.S. every year as stated on sepsis.org.

Today, September 13, is World Sepsis Day. Sepsis remains the second leading cause of death worldwide, claiming too many victims every year. At Abionic, we've harnessed the power of innovation to develop the world's fastest diagnostic platform, and our 5-minute sepsis test is leading the charge in this battle. Our sepsis test has a predictive value of up to 3 days before the onset of symptoms, an invaluable advance in the fight against this devastating condition. This test is a game-changer for healthcare professionals, enabling them to identify patients at risk of developing sepsis long before symptoms appear. The test is an essential tool in intensive care units (ICUs) for pre-symptomatic identification, and in emergency departments (EDs) to confirm suspected cases of sepsis. On this World Sepsis Day, we invite physicians and healthcare providers around the world to consider adopting our innovative diagnostic solutions. Together, we can redefine the way sepsis is detected and managed, and save countless lives in the process. Early detection is essential, and our technology is leading the way. #WorldSepsisDay #SepsisAwareness #MedtechInnovation #HealthcareHeroes #GlobalSepsisAlliance #SepsisAlliance #Abionic

When the infection-fighting processes turn on the body, they cause organs to function poorly and abnormally. Septic shock can develop from sepsis. This is a sudden reduction in blood pressure that can cause serious organ damage and even death. Treatment with antibiotics and intravenous fluids as soon as possible enhances the chances of survival. #SepsisDiagnostics #MedicalInnovation #HealthcareTechnology #InfectiousDisease #SepsisAwareness #CriticalCare

Whether it's thrombosis, infection or phlebitis, these complications can have serious consequences for patients and healthcare providers. Yet we keep using the same materials and expecting different outcomes. AVI catheters, using a first-of-its-kind material featuring MIMIX® technology, have shown significant reductions in failure rates and fewer complications in retrospective clinical studies.
