Environmental Responsibility: Doing Better When We Know Better Maya Angelou once said, "Do your best until you know better, but once you know better, please do better." These words hold profound wisdom that extends far beyond the boundaries of personal growth and self-improvement. They can be applied to our collective responsibility towards the environment. Think about it: if your best effort in environmental stewardship is as simple as not littering, you're already a champion. If you go a step further by planting trees and nurturing the Earth, you're nothing short of an environmental angel. And if your passion is educating others about how to care for the environment, you're a true hero deserving of recognition. But what if your best is contemplating how you can contribute to addressing the pollution crisis that plagues our planet? Does that make you any less of a responsible citizen? Absolutely not. In fact, it suggests that you are someone who values the environment and is willing to learn and grow in your role as its protector, so you too are a champ man! The essence of Maya Angelou's wisdom is this: keep evolving. Continuously seek to enhance your knowledge and practices when it comes to environmental conservation. Embrace the mindset of a perpetual student, always ready to absorb new information and insights. It's essential to recognize that none of us can ever know everything about everything. Environmental science and the complexities of our natural world are vast and ever-evolving. However, this shouldn't deter us from striving to improve what we do know. Rigidity, in this context, is not the path forward. Instead, we should be open to change and adaptation as we discover better ways to care for our planet. But as we embark on this journey of change, we must proceed with caution. While we make positive changes to our lifestyles and habits, it's crucial to ensure that these changes don't inadvertently harm the environment further. Our intentions may be noble, but the consequences of our actions require careful consideration. In the face of climate change and environmental degradation, every effort counts. Whether you're a novice or an expert in environmental matters, remember that there's always room for improvement. As a society, we're collectively responsible for the state of our planet, and it's in our best interest to do better when we know better. In Maya Angelou's wisdom, we can strive to be better environmental stewards each day. Whether your best is picking up trash, advocating for change, or researching innovative solutions, your contribution matters. #EnvironmentalResponsibility #ContinuousImprovement #SustainableLiving

Every year, more than 23,000 companies disclose their environmental performance to the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). CDP is widely recognized as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency as it assesses strategy, governance and progress on climate, water and other environmental issues. Today, we are excited to share that HEINEKEN has retained its place on CDP's Climate Change A List for the second consecutive year, a recognition of the hard work to decarbonise our business. Additionally, we are delighted to have received a score of A-, also for the second year, for our water-related efforts through CDP Water. Recognising that expectations on companies keep going up, we will continue to improve our approach and performance in our work to decarbonise and support healthy watersheds. Thank you to everyone across the business who has helped us drive progress on carbon and water, within our operations, across our value chains and in the communities where we operate. This was made possible through the relentless efforts and collaborative spirit of our teams, both within and beyond our company. We have been continuously improving the quality of our data and the CDP submissions have been key in this process, which helps our preparation for the new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Environmental protection is highly relevant for several reasons, encompassing ecological, social, economic, and health aspects. Here are some key points highlighting the importance of environmental protection: 1.Biodiversity Conservation: Healthy ecosystems support a diverse array of plant and animal species. Biodiversity is crucial for the stability and resilience of ecosystems, and it contributes to the overall health of the planet. 2. Climate Change Mitigation:Environmental protection involves efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and other activities that contribute to climate change. Mitigating climate change is essential for preventing extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and disruptions to ecosystems. 3.Human Health:A clean and healthy environment is directly linked to human well-being. Polluted air, water, and soil can lead to various health issues, including respiratory diseases, waterborne illnesses, and exposure to harmful toxins. 4.Sustainable Resource Management:Protecting the environment ensures the sustainable use of natural resources. Overexploitation of resources can lead to depletion and negatively impact the livelihoods of communities that depend on them. 5. Economic Benefits:A healthy environment is the foundation of a stable and sustainable economy. Ecosystem services, such as clean air and water, pollination of crops, and climate regulation, provide direct economic benefits and support various industries. 6.Cultural and Recreational Value:Many cultures have deep connections to their natural surroundings, and the preservation of the environment is essential for maintaining cultural heritage. Additionally, natural spaces offer recreational opportunities and contribute to the quality of life. 7.Global Interconnectedness:The world is interconnected, and environmental issues often transcend national borders. International cooperation is essential for addressing global challenges like deforestation, pollution, and the loss of biodiversity. 8.Preventing Environmental Degradation:Human activities, such as deforestation, pollution, and habitat destruction, can lead to irreversible environmental degradation. Protecting the environment helps prevent the loss of valuable ecosystems and their associated benefits. 9.Resilience to Natural Disasters:** Healthy ecosystems act as natural buffers against natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, and wildfires. Protecting natural habitats helps communities become more resilient in the face of these events. 10.Ethical and Moral Considerations:Many people believe in the intrinsic value of nature and advocate for its protection on ethical and moral grounds. This perspective emphasizes the responsibility of humans to act as stewards of the planet. In summary, environmental protection is relevant because it directly impacts the health of ecosystems, human well-being, and the sustainability of life on Earth.
