Creator and Visionary self service kiosk designer / Leading Charge at KT Group 20 yrs / Expert (at) Mass Manufacturing Kiosks & Large Scale Deployments / Foodie / Dog Lover and Passion 4 great design
Over 3,000 hotels worldwide use self-check in/out kiosk books in 25 countries, and all of them are vulnerable. One user found a way to bypass the check in system and access customer details in March, and it's still unclear if it has been fixed. This story gave me chills! We manufacture kiosks, and the idea that they could be bypassed to access sensitive data is frightening, so what are the solutions? 🔄 Regular updates: Ensure all self-service systems are running the latest software to patch vulnerabilities. 🔌 Network isolation: Separate self-service terminals from critical systems to limit potential damage. 📞 Vendor communication: Stay in close contact with your technology providers to ensure any reported issues are promptly addressed. Consumers will gladly embrace the conveniece of self service kiosks, but they will also share a concern for the safety of their data and information, which is why we can't let up when it comes to security. ⛔️🚨omni Hotels Have Been Hacked🚨⛔️ What does that mean for you? Not much if you are not staying at an Omni. But, if you are there here is what you will experience: 1. 💳 your hotel card will not work. 2. 🚫 Paying for your food and drinks is harder. 3. 📞 phone systems probably not working. 4. 🛗 elevators might be down. It will be different. What is the point in me telling you about this? Have a plan! An incident response plan. What is that? Basically a guide on what to do, how to continue working and providing service if you have been hacked, ransomed, or your technology is down. The Omni was prepared for this. They have turned the manual switch on and know how to deliver their service to their patrons with little distribution. If you don’t have a plan or you need help with one… reach out to me personally for help. Every business should have one. #incidentresponseplan #ransomwareattack #hacked #omnihotel #cybersecurity

Cybersecurity Leader | Chair at Australian Cyber Network | Chair at CSCAU | Founder at MurFin Group | Advocate for SMB Protection & Growth | ‘Cyber Team Australia’ Strategist | Speaker & Thought Leader | Innovator
🚘 Just like Road Safety... Cyber Safety needs to be a habit! Australia’s iconic road safety campaigns like Transport Accident Commission (TAC) 'Seatbelts Save Lives' & Cancer Council Australia 'Slip, Slop, Slap' have taught us the importance of simple but life saving actions. Whether we’re driving or heading out into the sun, those small habits can protect us from significant harm. But are we applying the same thinking to our digital lives? 🔐 PASSWORDS = Seatbelt Are the seatbelts of the cyber world. They’re your first line of defence... without a strong/unique one, you’re at risk the moment you hit the road. 🛑 MFA = Airbag Multi Factor Authentication is your airbag, if things go wrong and/or they bypass your password(s), MFA is there to cushion the blow and stop further damage. It’s an extra layer of protection you should never skip. 🔧 UPDATES = Servicing Are like servicing your vehicle. Just like a car needs maintenance to stay roadworthy, your software needs updates to keep you secure against new threats. We need to take our cyber safety as seriously as we take road safety. Just as we’ve normalised 'Slip, Slop, Slap' & 'Buckle Up Front & Back' before driving, it’s time to normalise strong passwords (password manager), MFA & regular Updates as part of our digital hygiene. 'The Act Now. Stay Secure'. message from Australian Department of Home Affairs is a good attempt https://lnkd.in/gPN93M8U but still misses the mark. We need to get more creative with our messaging and get it out of the 'cyber bubble' to really connect and resonate with the everyday Australian. Let’s start treating our cyber security like the essential part of our lives that it is... protect yourself, your family and your business!!! Buckle up, deploy your airbags and service your online systems... NOW! #CyberSecurity #MFA #DigitalSafety #CyberAwareness #ActNowStaySecure #PasswordSecurity #StayUpdated #CyberHygiene #MurfinGroup #ProtectYourself

Keep Your Business Safe This Festive Season - Manguard Plus’ Top Tips As we embrace the Christmas season, let's not forget about security! At Manguard Plus we understand that, while Christmas is a time of joy, it's also a season when businesses can be vulnerable to security breaches. Here are some essential tips to ensure your business stays secure during the holidays: 🔐 Lock and Key: Always lock all doors and windows when your premises are closed. Enable and monitor your alarms. Remember, if a burglar can't access your property within 3-5 minutes, they're likely to move on. 👁️ Employee Awareness: Hold a quick security refresher for your staff. Vigilance is key, so encourage them to report any unusual activity. 💻 Online Safety: Update all software and antivirus programs. Educate your team on the risks of phishing and the importance of verifying unsolicited emails or links. 📦 Stock Control: Keep a vigilant eye on your inventory, especially high-value items. Use CCTV not just for real-time monitoring but also as an audit tool to track any discrepancies. 💡 Visibility and Lighting: Ensure that your premises are well-lit, both inside and out. Good lighting can be a significant deterrent to potential intruders and helps create a safer environment. 🆕 Emerging Threats: Stay informed about the latest security threats and trends. As we've seen in recent times, the security landscape is constantly evolving, and staying one step ahead is crucial. 🤝 Partnership: Consider partnering with a professional security service like Manguard Plus. Our expertise can provide an added layer of protection and peace of mind during the festive season and into 2024 Remember, security is not just about technology; it's about awareness and preparedness. By following these simple yet effective steps, you can ensure that it's only Santa who gets in without a key this Christmas! 🎄 Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas! #ManguardPlus #SecurityAwareness #ChristmasSecurity #BusinessSafety #GIBA2023
