Today's conversation is designed to showcase some lessons and learnings from Brazil. My guest is Tatyane Macêdo, Head of Communications at a loyalty consulting company called , based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is also the Editor-in-chief of Tudo Sobre Incentivos, which they describe as the main educational content platform on Loyalty and incentives in Brazil. Tatyane reached out to us to share some research they conducted with a sample of consumers in Brazil, and conducted in partnership with ABEMF – Associação Brasileira das Empresas do Mercado de Fidelização, which is essentially the South American Loyalty Association. The research is in its third year and was designed to get a better understanding of the perceptions of these consumers around the various loyalty programs they are members of – what they like and dislike, as well as some ideas on how Brazilian loyalty programs can serve them even more. Bonza, the relatively new Australian low-cost Airline that started at the beginning of 2023 has gone into voluntary administration. AKA they've shut down. Bonza’s failures offers critical lessons for brands venturing into new markets or launching innovative products. 🇲🇽International launch part 6: Solving the supply issue 🚘 I just sat down for coffee with drivers for 1.5 hours… We learned a TON, but here’s three things that stood out: 1. In Canada, drivers don’t like driving far distances to pick up passengers, but in LatAm, this problem for drivers is on steroids! Gas is a much bigger portion of each fare in LatAm vs Canada, so every extra km driven has an even bigger impact for drivers… 2. Drivers feel we’re running incentives at the wrong times (incentives in the evenings when we have a lot of drivers online and demand dies off, making the incentives harder to achieve) 3. Our Uride Latam’s Instagram page seems fake… it doesn’t have close to as many followers as our main page, and isn’t following the same style, leading many driver applicants to think it’s not real. Possible solutions: 1. Lower the dipatch radius, and have incentives to offset driving distances until we further build the market and make it more efficient so that drivers are drive less distance between rides. 2. Change the hours/structure of our launch incentives 3. Always use similar branding/feel in different countries, while still localizing to the area you’re serving. We could also put a link on the main Uride Instagram to Uride LatAm so people can confirm they’re connected We’ll make changes to improve the driver experience (especially 1 & 2) in the next 1-2 hours, and keep driving forward! 🇲🇽🚗💨
