As Salam Alaikum all, Ramadan Mubarak to you all!
I know this year’s market has been tough for many, as people have been applying endlessly for months without any prospective career.
HOWEVER
The recruiting season for entertainment has JUST STARTED and many companies based in LA have started applications online.
It is still competitive, it still requires networking, personal polishing, and interview prep. But it’s another chance nonetheless.
Companies such as Sony, Disney, and the Illumination Animation Studio (below) have posted creative marketing, creative development and other back end Entertainment roles.
I know many of you haven’t considered an internship in tech, but I never considered an internship in IT Pharma and look where Allah has taken me.
Especially our Muslim Brothers and Sisters, us as an Ummah have no representation in Hollywood, and so the only way we are ever included in a film is either as a “terrorist” or being tokenized with a “Muslim Character” who doesn’t authentically embody what it is to be Muslim.

As it is the month of Ramadan, don’t forget to capitalize on this opportunity to pray more, and make dua more. Make dua right before Iftar, or right before Suhoor when you wake up, or after Taraweeh. When effort, Salah, and Dua come together, unimaginable opportunities have risen, just be patient.
