Understaffed nursing units lead to extra suffering for everyone from the overworked clinicians to the underserved patients. Bedside burnout is in a league of its own, and if we don't focus on filling these critical positions with the proper fit, the cycle continues. HireMe Healthcare is here to help make proper matches and thereby empower both nurse candidates and the units that hire them to operate more effectively and more efficiently, reducing burnout and turnover. Everyone wants to work, but isn't it just that much better to work in a role that's the right fit for both parties in the employment relationship?? #hingeforhealthcarehiring

Transform #recruiting and #retention by speaking to what direct care workers need and deserve: respect, recognition, opportunities for growth and training to deliver first-class care. Then DO it. The Purpose Equation® has developed evidence-informed tools, training and experiences to help EVERYONE in your #seniorliving community and #skillednursingfacility to: - Feel seen, heard, be more #engaged - Implement management practices that develop genuine caring - Learn and grow through training and education that is personally and professionally #MEANINGFUL and based on #sharedexperiences “Unless you create a culture in a nursing home that is inclusive of all the workers—respects one another—has people at the table, including the direct caregivers […] to be part of the care planning, and the family’s involved in it, you’re running a top-down, 1980s-style organization from a leadership point of view,” said Tara Cortes, executive director of the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing and a clinical professor at New York University (NYU) Rory Meyers College of Nursing. “It doesn’t work in 2023.” - 8/10 facilities reported moderate to high levels of worker shortages - 96% said they’ve had difficulty hiring new staff, - 45% of nursing homes surveyed said their overall workforce situation has worsened in the last year. source: January American Health Care Association (AHCA) survey that polled 524 nursing homes. Bill Introduced to Block Federal Nursing Home Staffing Mandate Rep. Michelle Fischbach of Minnesota has introduced legislation to halt CMS from implementing its proposed nursing home staffing mandate. The bill – dubbed the Protecting Rural Seniors Access to Care Act – would, instead, require the federal government to create an advisory panel to study the issue. https://lnkd.in/eDkKJmUP According to Rep. Fischbach, the staffing requirement should not go into effect until CMS “can prove it will not result in the closure of skilled nursing facilities, will not harm patient access, and will not make workforce shortage issues worse in areas that are already struggling.” The legislation comes on the heels of a letter sent last week by 28 U.S. Senators to CMS urging it to rescind the federal staffing mandate for nursing homes. https://lnkd.in/ea9taZ4w #Health Care #Nursing Homes

Before the pandemic, healthcare workers faced a disproportionate percentage of workplace violence. Nearly three-quarters of all nonfatal injuries related to workplace violence in the US occurred in healthcare facilities. At the same time, nearly 50% of members of the American College of Emergency Physicians / Emergency Nurses Association were assaulted, with 70% of emergency room nurses reporting being hit or kicked on the job. These numbers only got worse during and after the pandemic. Almost one-third of registered nurses in the U.S. said they face increased on-the-job violence due to staffing shortages, changes in the patient population, and restrictions for visitors. In one quarter alone last year, 5,000 nurses reported on-the-job assaults. This comes to two nurses being assaulted every hour, or 57 assaults per day!
