I've touched down in London for #BESummit24! I'm thrilled to be in such excellent company as we spend the next three days exploring groundbreaking tech solutions across our Breakthrough Energy network. If you’re at BE Summit and want to learn more about how Prolific Machines is using light to control biology with our photomolecular biotechnology platform, please message me or find me at the Summit.

After four years working behind the scenes, today Prolific Machines unveils our first-of-its-kind biotechnology platform to the world. Prolific is the first to use light — safe and abundant — to produce everyday essentials, from nutritional proteins and lifesaving drugs to cultivated meat. Our photomolecular biology platform delivers unprecedented control, precisely guiding cellular behavior when and where it matters most. This technology debut is coupled with the close of our milestone $55M Series B1 fundraise, led by Ki Tua Fund CVC of Fonterra Co-operative Group. We could not be more grateful to partner with Ki Tua Fund on this journey and for the continued support of our long-time investors Breakthrough Energy Cooper Rinzler Mayfield Fund Arvind Gupta IndieBio Po Bronson SOSV Continental Grain Company Shorewind Capital Darco Capital In-Q-Tel (IQT) Robert Downey Jr.'s FootPrint Coalition Matthew Katz and many more. This announcement marks our next chapter as a commercial organization. We are excited to unveil partnerships with industry leaders in cellular agriculture, pharmaceuticals, nutritional proteins, and beyond. Stay tuned for details in the coming months, and get in touch at [email protected] if you're interested in co-developing the future of biology with us. Prolific was just awarded a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant to use our optogenetics expertise to develop a therapeutics platform to produce more affordable monoclonal antibodies. This grant stands to make these life-saving drugs more accessible in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) so they can be used to prevent infectious diseases where they're needed most. Email [email protected] if you’d like to explore how our platform can help you reach your biomanufacturing goals.

“Essentially what we’re doing is building a system where any target protein inside the cell can be brought under the control of light,” Deniz Kent, PhD Prolific, Co-Founder & CEO. Thank you to Larissa Zimberoff and The Information for the thoughtful feature exploring the big potential of our photomolecular platform across therapeutics, cultivated meat, and beyond as we commercialize our platform. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements...
I tasted cultured meat made using light instead of growth factors and got to spend time with the *very* smart founders of Prolific Machines, Inc. Deniz Kent, PhD Declan Jones and Max Huisman. I'll be linking to a PDF of my story for The Information in my next newsletter, which you can sign up for here: https://lnkd.in/gsGU4aSW cc Nicki Heverling Briggs, MS, RDN Eric Schulze, PhD
