We know not everybody gets how conversations around body image and food show up in communities of color. That’s why our Community Care Program, Body Reborn, is here to help. It might be a good fit for you if you’re struggling to heal from disordered eating alone or in with your current community. Our summer cohort is currently open for applications through June 29th. Apply and find out more via the link in bio or https://buff.ly/3RxJBU8 When you heal your relationship with food and body, others around you may feel inspired to find healing as well. 🤔COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM? 💫Body Reborn is a virtual, intersectional community for those who struggle with disordered eating and have faced systemic barriers due to race (e.g. those that originate for people of color). In this 8 week group (from July 8 - August 28), participants engage in education and live discussion around systemic oppression, trauma, and their effects on our relationship with food/body. IS THIS PROGRAM FOR ME? 💫You may gain the most benefit from the space if you (a) are already engaging, comfortably, in these reflections individually; and/or (b) are comfortable in your outpatient care level. The group will discuss potentially challenging topics in a carefully facilitated, supportive space. While we aim for safety, complete trigger avoidance cannot be guaranteed. Space is limited. Therefore, we ask that you please complete the application thoughtfully and authentically as possible. HOW DO I APPLY? 💫Head over to https://buff.ly/3RxJBU8 to learn more about what to expect. If you believe you’re a good fit, click the “Join Here” button which will lead you to an application via Google Forms. Fill out the application, and click “Submit.” You will hear back before the cohort start date if you have been accepted to the program. WHEN DOES THIS COHORT MEET? 💫Groups will last for 8 weeks, with this group starting July 8 and ending August 28. Sessions are held weekly on Mondays 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM ET, as well as Wednesdays 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM ET. All groups are held via Zoom. WHO LEADS THE GROUPS? 💫Our Community Care Facilitators are Leslie Jordan Garcia @liberatiwellness and Serena Pao @serena_pao. We are especially grateful for their commitment to our community. WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS? 💫Please reach out to [email protected].

New findings released today from California’s ACE’s Aware initiative! In 40 clinics from 7 regions throughout the state, the start and spread of ACE screening was strongly correlated with clinics’ progress becoming trauma-informed. Every clinic made progress in both domains, but those that became more trauma-informed screened significantly more patients for ACEs. This supports the longstanding ethos that trauma inquiry is best accomplished in trauma-informed environments of care. The ACEs Aware initiative, to me, has also been one of the, if not the single, most effective catalysts of trauma-informed systems change.
