Purple Pilchard - Championing ambitious start-ups & boot-strapped challenger brands since 2004 purplepilchard.co.uk
A Growing Business Award really feels like a ‘passage of rites’ moment for Popcorn Kitchen Ltd, not that we need a fab glass trophy to tell us just how incredible the year has been in terms of giant steps forward for our bustling #artisanal , ‘fine snacking’ brand. This is a brand that is today x5 bigger than it was back in 2020, brand that has only just got started! This is a brand that decided long ago that supermarkets were a hectic discounting mad house that it didn’t need to be part of, especially with an ambitious indie sector needing a category hero that put its gifting needs front & centre of its long-term plans. This is a brand that refused to accept that popcorn’s best days were behind them OR that in a truly cluttered fine snacking marketplace that a far-reaching range of sublime bagged/boxed products had to be the brand’s endgame. This is a small Home Counties operator that gets gifting and B2C and sees the export potential for proud, thoughtfully made GB fine snacking offers. In 2023 Popcorn Kitchen saw the scope to own countless ‘home poppin’ occasions and simultaneously enter the confectionery space with uncompromising slabs of Belgium choc peppered with moreish, home-popped propositions. It’s early days and some future setbacks are inevitable, but if this was a school report we’re pretty confident that Popcorn Kitchen would be walking away with an A- (clearly not A ) #popcorn Popcorn Kitchen Ltd Not On The High Street Louise Webb ( Monk) #gifting #festivevibes #snacking #snackingmaderight Made in Britain - official Paul Abley THAT’S NEXT YEAR!

Sleigh the competition this Christmas! I spoke last week about customers needing to support their local butcher this festive season, but you know that good will works both ways - butchers have got to be doing their part as well with awesome customer service, quality produce, and something a little different to what the big chains are doing. Being local isn’t enough! You’ve got to 'sleigh'! Supermarkets often beat butchers on price and convenience, so what can butchers do about it? Go for value and quality. Make your store a destination people travel to visit. While we butchers might not always match the giants on price, we can certainly outshine them on value. Why not bundle your premium Chrissy cuts with complimentary items like foil baking trays, goose fat, ham glazes or easy as side dishes? Highlight where your produce comes from to get customers buying with their hearts not just their wallet. Create irresistible packages that make customers feel like they're not just getting more for their money, but put together items you just wouldn’t find in a big store. Think artisanal add-ons! Don’t be shy about sharing the story and charm of your butchery – think what you can do that a supermarket can’t - big up your personalised service, your community connection, and the unique artisanal products that you can stock way faster than any supermarket can. Remind your customers that when they shop with you, they're not just buying ingredients; they're investing in a local business and contributing to the whole the community. That’s the spirit of Christmas! #ButcherGirlAlison #AussieChristmas #FestiveFeels #ChristmasFood #FestiveFood #ChristmasIdeas #ButchersLot #ButchersLife #LadyButcher #FemaleButcher #Butchery #ButchersOfInstagram #ButchersBlock #ButchersGuide #Butchery #ButcherLife #ChristmasButcher #ButchersAtChristmas #AustralianChristmas #SupportLocal #ChristmasFeast #ButcherLove #CommunityConnection #SupportButchers

As of recent years, Greggs has maintained its position as one of the leading bakery chains in the UK, if not the number one. Its extensive network of over 2,000 locations and its significant market share in the quick-service food sector contribute to this standing. ### Factors Supporting Greggs' Leading Position: 1. **Market Reach**: Greggs' widespread presence across the UK makes it highly accessible to customers, contributing to its dominance in the bakery market. 2. **Product Innovation**: The introduction of popular items such as the vegan sausage roll has kept Greggs relevant and appealing to a broad audience. 3. **Sales Performance**: Consistent sales growth, driven by a combination of new store openings, refurbishments, and product range expansion, underscores its strong market position. 4. **Brand Loyalty**: Greggs enjoys a loyal customer base due to its reputation for affordability, quality, and convenience.

Where is your go-to burger spot? For many Americans, that has changed over the last few years. As costs and prices have increased coming out of the pandemic, "consumers have reshaped the burger business, shifting toward newer brands or those with a higher perception of quality, and away from some of the more traditional quick-service chains. But they're not all shifting to fast-casual chains." Read More: https://lnkd.in/gj32wX-y #quickservice #fastcasual #restaurantdata #burgers #restaurantconsulting

Metro Detroit's Chicken Fried Frenzy Metro Detroit has witnessed a sizzling shift in its fast-food landscape. While burger joints have long dominated the roads, a revolution is underway. In recent years, the rise of fast-food fried chicken chains has turned heads and tantalized taste buds across Southeast Michigan. The chicken sandwich has become the crowned royalty, with a slew of new poultry-centric concepts swiftly spreading. Notable names like Chicken Guy! backed by Guy Fieri and Big Chicken endorsed by Shaquille O’Neal have made their flavorful mark in the local market. Meanwhile, heavy hitters like Chick-fil-A Restaurants and Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers are expanding their footprint, eager to claim their share of the chicken frenzy. The pandemic acted as a catalyst, ushering in lasting changes in the restaurant industry. With a staggering 57% preference for carryout over dine-in experiences among consumers, the appeal of chicken soared even higher. Convenience and portability became the golden ticket, prompting restaurants to adapt with separate carryout-only areas. As Hudson Riehle, National Restaurant Association senior vice president of research, puts it, "[Chicken] is much more convenient, accessible and — more importantly because of the off-premises element — more portable." The economics behind this fried chicken boom reflect not just a change in taste but a fundamental shift in how we dine. Foxtrot Market is a different kind of grocer and convenience store. At a time when the last standing corner stores seem to be disappearing from Australian suburbs, Foxtrot is running 32 stores in four US cities: Austin, Chicago, Dallas and Washington. Right from the get-go, back when the first Foxtrot Market opened in Chicago’s West Loop in 2015, the store has focussed on sourcing products that have a local connection, or that are centred around social impact. The Foxtrot Market brand has become synonymous with trend-setting food and beverage products that you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Think Geem seaweed snacks and Ting’s Jackfruit Chips, amongst an endless variety of others. To keep things fresh in store, Foxtrot Market created ‘Up & Comers’, a category that is dedicated to emerging snacks. In the selection of these exciting new products, Foxtrot team elects winners for five main honours: Hero (based on taste and brand purpose), Innovation, Classic Product Reimagined (A Friendly Bread’s frozen grilled cheese sandwiches were a past winner), Just Damn Good and Best Packaging. Read more about Foxtrot Market’s trendsetting product selection process at Fast Company—link below. https://lnkd.in/gifiNqst Here at YOZO, we exist to help SMEs harness opportunities at the right time.
