Democracy is not just a form of decision-making based on majorities. It is much more than that. It includes the protection of minorities and the right to equal treatment. It requires equal dialogue and mutual respect in all fields of life. Democracy must be a safe space in which different world views and concepts of life can be peacefully exchanged. At the same time, democracy must also be capable of defence. Manipulative speech strategies, hatred and violence can only be prevented through democratic resilience. Democratic competences can be trained and improved. Our organisation is committed to this and offers appropriate training courses. More on this soon! #democracy #dialog #dialogue #education #competences https://lnkd.in/d_dJG-3R

I know you want to see the end of white supremacy. We do, too. I am curious. How do we envision the end? Let’s think about it. After all, somebody should. Will colorblindness prevail and we will all be equal and in equitable relationship? Or will our national civil war, now a cold one, progressively become hotter until a final conflagration settles it all? (Please let us win that one.) Or maybe the browning of America will deliver the end of white supremacy when the white populace shrinks below a numerical majority in our democratic nation. All these currents are at play in our present time. We believe that building anti-racist multiracial community offers a path to restructuring the relationship of race in our lives in this country. And we believe that multiracial communities need to stand on the two pillars of justice and relationship. That’s all you really need to know before coming to the conference. If you are looking for an entry point into this work, then we will be delighted if you choose this conference. https://lnkd.in/e5JG64FN
