PNE's Co-Founder and CEO, Dr. Chao Yan, and Sr. Director of R&D, Dr. Jinyun (Jared) Liao, have been honored with an invitation from Dave McCarthy, the SBIR/STTR Programs Tech to Market Advisor, to attend the 2024 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) SBIR/STTR Phase I Release I PI Meeting. This prestigious event, organized by the U.S. DOE SBIR/STTR Program, brings together principal investigators from small businesses that have received SBIR/STTR funding to discuss projects, share progress, and network with researchers, DOE officials, and potential collaborators. During the event, Dr. Chao Yan participated in a panel on financing strategies, sharing his valuable experience and insights on venture capital raising. Dr. Jared Liao mentored participants in 1:1 meetings, providing critical insights on technology development and its role in Princeton NuEnergy's rapid growth. We are proud to share our company's journey, which began with a DOE SBIR Phase I project in 2020, utilizing our patented low-temperature, #plasma-assisted separation process (#LPAS™) to revolutionize #battery #recycling. Thrilled to have attended the Giga USA 2024 this week! 🌟 The highlight was definitely the panel discussion on Developing a Circular Domestic Battery Economy. It was an honor to be part of such an engaging and insightful conversation. The energy and passion from the panelists with Sarah Colbourn from Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, Tina Jeffress from Panasonic Energy of North America, Pierre Bagnon from Capgemini Engineering and Shane Thompson from Sirba Solutions were truly inspiring. I'm excited to bring back new ideas and insights to my work. Connecting with industry leaders and fellow professionals was a fantastic opportunity for growth and collaboration. Princeton NuEnergy are committed to reducing the cost of lithium ion battery recycling and supporting domestic material supply chain. Another wonderful surprise was reconnecting with an old friend from the industry, Albert Gore, Alan Ferguson, Justin Potisit, Leilani Gonzalez, Robert Privette, Anthony Tse, Samm Gillard, Erez Ichilov, Preston Bryant, Ryan B. We're excited to share insights from Dr. Chao Yan, who was on the panel at #GigaUSA Benchmark Mineral Intelligence's World Lithium Congress yesterday. Dr. Yan emphasized that direct recycling is much #cleaner, nearly half the cost, and #reduces #emissions by 70% compared to traditional methods. He highlighted the economic challenges of recycling, noting that while reducing costs is tough, the volume of spent batteries by 2035 will help recyclers scale. Despite current economic pressures, Dr. Yan sees promise in second-life battery reuse, especially for energy storage in regions with power shortages. He explained that data center batteries, retaining 60% of their charge at "end of life," can be repurposed for residential use.
