Dancer's psychotherapist and workshop presenter. Winner of the One Dance UK Dancers' Healthcare Practitioner Award
It's Mantra Monday - check out this amazing mantra from The Whole Dancer!! "The dancers who get through audition season without it destroying them develop the belief that they’ll find a path forward. They might not know exactly what the path looks like, and it might be different from what they’ve been envisioning for years, but they see a way to keep going. With each audition experience, say to yourself: May it be this or something better. This allows for a couple of important things. It allows you to imagine that perhaps even if you’ve dreamed of some “ideal” scenario, you might not actually know right now what the best outcome is for you. When you approach a time of uncertainty with a belief that you’ll create something amazing with whatever comes your way, that’s an empowered approach." - Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/eNuP8tzJ #mentalhealth #performingarts #auditionanxiety #theatre #dancers #danceschool #mentalhealthawareness #performers #balletdance #contemporarydance #tapdance #latindance #ballroomdance #hiphopdance #musicaltheatre #triplethreat #auditions #casting #castingcall #openaudition #dancehealth #dancescience #healthydance #dancetips #thewholedancer #learn #grow #mantramonday #counsellingfordancers #nerves

The leader in team alignment. Visual consultant, master facilitator, executive coach, international speaker, author
When we speak in musical metaphors it feels so loud. For me, the comparisons are front and center because of the time I've spent on the stage. Now it's my turn to coax my clients out on stage in front of the crowd (their audience, their team) and teach them how to work the microphone (their messaging, their vision) and how to stay cool under the lights (their strategic goals, their competition). Here's how I overcame the 2 biggest struggles we face as musical theatre performers. NO ONE talks about this. It's more than self doubt, lack of confidence or all the other emotional and mental challenges we deal with in this industry. It's the part of this job that we don't want to accept or don't even know about until we hit that point as an adult. I'd say it used to happen about 5 years after you started really diving into this career. It's like the honeymoon phase, you know? You're in your 20's and you can live on PB&J and couches. Then you start hitting your 30's. Then, 40's come and hell no you can not couch surf bc your back hurts and that PB&J will no longer fly according to your doctor. Here's how I solved the 2 problems we all face and it took me decades to figure it out. This will only take you 10 minutes to learn and hear. Learn from my mistakes and experience of a lifetime in theatre. https://lnkd.in/gNFSufGm

Inertia Creeps has given me the opportunity to challenge myself to understand the challenges facing leaders and organisations in a 'future world of work' (well lets face it it is a NOW world of work). I am increasingly of the opinion that the challenges in work reflect our challenges in society. How do we build connection in a divisive political world. How do we create actual inclusion rather than a tick the box diversity culture. My next episode features a chat with West End star and performance coach Crystal Nicholls. A really cool discussion on the challenges of being a black woman auditioning for roles, of balancing being a mother and a performer, and of the importance for performers to use rejection as motivation. As always thanks to Lowki Culture for their excellence in producing. Check it out and let me know your thoughts. #resilience #highperformance #highperformancehabits #racism #genderequality
“So for me, one of the challenges that I face was that because I am a Black dancer, singer within musical theatre, I always get put up for the same types of roles.” Crystal Nicholls Subscribe to ‘Inertia Creeps’ - https://lnkd.in/eNnrSRkE
