It’s the big day! Six weeks of campaigning has passed quickly and now we get to vote. Today, we will post each party’s NHS and healthcare commitments from the big three parties, as a reminder of what we might expect. First, incumbent party: Conservative Party promises Here are the Conservative Party pledges, if they get another go (published 11/06/24). Healthcare highlights below (and link to the full manifesto at the end). The NHS Long-Term Workforce Plan will help shift care away from hospitals and into local communities. To support this, we will: · Expand Pharmacy First, including for menopause support, contraception and treatment for chest infections, freeing up 20 million GP appointments a year. · Build or modernise 250 GP surgeries, focused on areas of new housing growth. · Build 50 more Community Diagnostic Centres, including in underserved areas, resulting in an additional 2.5 million checks a year. We will invest £3.4 billion in new technology to transform the NHS for staff and for patients. The NHS Productivity Plan will see NHS productivity grow by 1.9% a year from 2025-26 – unlocking £35 billion of cumulative savings by the end of the decade. We will: · Make the NHS App the single front door for NHS services. Patients will use the App to access their medical records, order prescriptions, book vaccine appointments, access a digital red book and manage their hospital appointments. · Use AI to free up doctors’ and nurses’ time for frontline patient care. · Replace tens of thousands of outdated computers, slashing the 13 million hours in doctors’ and nurses’ time lost to IT issues every year and digitise NHS processes through the Federated Data Platform. · Fund technology to help clinicians read MRI and CT scans more quickly and accurately, speeding up results for 130,000 patients every year. · Create new incentives for improved performance, rewarding the best performing providers of care. · To support children, young people and adults with their mental health, we will expand coverage of Mental Health Support Teams from 50% to 100% of schools and colleges in England by 2030. https://lnkd.in/eTyzqkeE

Dear healthcare, most of your "addressable market" calculation is bloated, because hospitals charge ridiculous fees and payers pay some percentage of that. Some items are fairly priced but some services we know should not cost this much usually the "fountain soda of fast food industry" equivalent items like IV fluids, routine labs, OT/PT, quick consults are what you often get price gauged on. Healthcare is not a $ trillion dollar market, when most of the valuation is wash trading in the derivatives market.
Let’s play “how many egregious acts against humanity” can you find on this ER bill. This is what Ascension Dell Seton UT Med Center charged me for a recent ER visit (so far). Reminds me of the price gouging gas stations and dumpy motels that take advantage of the people fleeing along emergency evacuation routes... and the same laws should apply. #txlege Andy Davis, you run an organization with a mission statement "dedicated to spiritually centered holistic care which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities." Care to share how in your "spiritually centered holistic care" is it ok to charge $2600 (after "discount") for a $1.63 bag of saline? How about $850 for a PT and OT spending 10 minutes watching me put on a pair of ill fitting socks and brushing my teeth? The Colorado Supreme Court (French vs Centura Health) recently found that if a hospital doesn't give a price up front then it needs to be fair. The same precedent needs to be set in Texas and elsewhere. The problem is that few people who are uninsured have the resources to fight this battle. The price to fight is not worth it for most people. It's worth it to me to change this system and Ascension just messed with the wrong uninsured guy. I call upon Ascension to be the hero here. Reprice your services nationwide for the uninsured so that they are fair and truly live out your mission statement.

Bringing the Millennial View to TMF Consulting | Project Management, Clinical Operations, Trial Master File
A very Happy Juneteenth to all. Whilst some of us are working today, it truly is still a wonderful time for conversations and visibility into the acknowledgment of such a time. There are still active genocides of many persons to this very moment and I cannot ignore it whilst celebrating the delayed freedom of my own ancestors well after they were "freed" from the true trauma of slavery. Some may think slavery is so far removed from our current time, yet I only have to go back to my great-great grandparents for actual slave times. To make it even more real, I had my great-grandmother in my life until I was in middle school. I honor and thank my many ancestors for bridging the gaps and creating the paths that in one way or another led to me being a TMF consultant today. There is still soooo much work in representation and transparency with regards to pharmaceuticals left to be achieved, but I cannot neglect to acknowledge the strides thus far. So while I may be in the home office instead of at the many Juneteenth events, I still find the work towards a more equitable tomorrow in healthcare to be worth it. While slavery may be so long ago to those privileged to be unaffected by it, for many of us we are not that far removed. I wonder how long before we address the actual medical biases and prejudices in our world? As someone who too many times has had to advocate for answers, I truly see just how much our freedom is still conditional today.
