We are proud to highlight a project that is changing how our client, Centra Health, is changing their hospital system's approach to behavioral health treatment: Virginia's first-ever emPATH Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital! emPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment and Healing) units are a relatively new concept that provides compassionate, holistic care in a calming environment for people experiencing a mental health crisis. Our two-story pavilion and EMS building in Woodbury will be opening this Fall! The Inspira Health Center Woodbury Pavilion will house a state-of-the-art 25,000-square-foot satellite emergency department and a 18,500-square-foot inpatient behavioral health program. The new behavioral health space will represent a first-of-its-kind single occupancy short term care program for adults in the region. This facility will enable us to deliver advanced care and greater access to the communities we serve – specifically our emergency and behavioral health patient populations in Woodbury and the surrounding area.

How can text messaging improve patient well-being? We partnered with Ventura County to provide SMS surveys at regular intervals to assess mood and wellness of individuals leaving psychiatric inpatient facilities. Not only did patients rate the program highly, but the automated SMS messages saved Ventura County staff hours of tracking down clients by making repeated outbound phone attempts. yli has just endorsed SB 1319, which streamlines the process for converting unused skilled nursing facilities to behavioral health facilities, in response to the increased need for behavioral health facilities in the state. Existing law requires skilled nursing facilities that would like to provide behavioral health services to seek approvals from multiple state departments - significantly delaying the process for these critical behavioral health facilities to open and become operational. In an effort to address the fentanyl crisis, SB 1319 contributes to the Senate’s evidence-based approach to increase access to treatment facilities by creating a streamlined process to submit applications for these facilities. How do you know which Intensive Outpatient Program is right for you? The Behavioral Wellness Group has 7 total programs: Six (6) are virtual group programs, and one (1) is an in-person group program. We have five (5) programs for adults aged 18 and older, one (1) program for adolescents aged 13-17, and one (1) program for college students aged 18 and older. How do I know if I need an Intensive Outpatient Program? IOP is often recommended for individuals who do not require medical supervision and can live at home.
