Remember folks that most local takeaway and delivery outlets use Just Eat because they have to. It often means extra costs have to be added in. So it’s ok because Just Eat is set up for you to Just “Get” an idea on what you want from groceries to Fish & Chips. When you’ve worked it out look and see if the establishment you want to order from has it’s own website and telephone number then get in touch to see if you can order directly. Continue to use local in a local way to buy your favourite food and drinks we don’t have to do everything the big corporations tell us to do. Most important lesson to take your directing from GOOD to GREAT: Create a strong vision but then use the experience of your team members to collaborate and elevate it! Strong Vision: a boring office party gone wild! I had to trust that the hired team would take this to the next level. And they did... Character & Story 📝 I knew I wanted the main character to go from the most un-cool person to the life of the party with Deliveroo being our way to stardom. So one character came to mind: a Napoleon Dynamite type. Art Direction 🎨 Given that we’re going for this type of character, we agreed to go all in on the retro tone with bright colors, big features and a bold outfits. The art director and wardrobe stylist put together some funky colors and props to really bring out the retro feel. Cinematographer 🎥 To build the visual language, we looked at different ways to bring out the quirkiness of the film. So we combined the camera work of the TV show The Office and combined it with the awkward comedy of Napoleon Dynamite. As soon as I said Napoleon Dynamite, he was in :) Actors 🎭 The more awkward the better and all of these characters really brought it! Wait till the ending of the video to see how our main character improvised the hilarious tantrum that was supposed to just be a: “Noooooo!” like you’re a 10 year old child whose classmate repeated his joke and everybody laughed when he said it. As a director, you have to build a strong foundation for your project, then… Hire and trust talented people to understand, elevate and deliver a new collaborative vision! Since my last post went viral (it didn't), here's 3 more things you can do to ensure your imagery game is spot-on. 1. Having photos in your delivery platforms will earn you an extra 20%. This is not a figure I just made up, the source is the Deliveroo rep for the Greater Scotland area. You (and your customers) buy with your eyes. So give them somethting to look at 👀 2. Staged ≠ Fake. Our eyes and minds are very different to lenses and sensors we use. Our goal is to portray the feel rather than the exact setup. When done right, you won't be straying from your vision, only working to perfectly capture it. 3. Keep it tidy, keep it real. In trying to emulate your venue's feeling, we sometimes have the urge to add elements that tell a different story and create different expectations for your customers. I like to find a balance between the experience we're selling and what clients are actually getting. Avoid these: adding crockery you don't own or use, lighting the place in a way that's rarely done or over-decorate dishes that custumers won't get ✨
