Breaking Barriers: Coco Brown - Empowering Women to Lead in Boardrooms Worldwide! Women in Business: Coco Brown, PhD, CEO of Athena Alliance, has transformed her early career in tech into a mission-driven path dedicated to empowering women in leadership roles. Inspired by her experiences and driven by the mission to overcome imposter syndrome, Coco has steered Athena Alliance to support over 450 women in securing board roles. What advice would you give to women aspiring to leadership roles in today's competitive business landscape?" “Think much bigger about yourself. What if I could be the CEO? What if I could start investing in companies? And through that, advising on things I care about, and through that, becoming a board member? And what if I could start my own company? Don't limit your thinking,” says Coco. “Make sure you understand where you fit in this landscape so that you can build a real strategy for it, the way kids build a strategy to get into the school they want. That's a big secret to success.” Read more in the article in the comment below. #WomenInLeadership #BoardDiversity #EmpowerWomen #LeadershipDevelopment #ImposterSyndrome #CorporateEquality #InclusiveLeadership #AthenaAlliance #DiverseBoards #StrategicLeadership

Women do not lack empowerment, Cass R. Cooper, MHR, writes in her latest column for CRN. “We as women have historically found ways to live our truths, find our voices, and inspire each other to build power in unique ways, all within the confines of patriarchy and social repression.” Read her column to learn about what women do statistically lack, and what we should keep in mind ahead of next week’s Women of the Channel Leadership Summit: #GenderEquity #WomenOfTheChannel #InclusiveLeadership

Unlearning Leadership Advocate l Gender Equity Activist l University Lecturer l PhD Student researching the ‘broken rung’ impacting women’s advancement
I have a confession. I am a leadership coach/facilitator supporting women to step into their strength, talents, and courage to become the kind of leader they most want to be. I fundamentally believe that more women leading at all levels in all sectors, will make the workplace and the world, a better place. I am even doing my PhD on this topic. I have invested a lot of time and money in my PhD so far, in my company - the Leadership Makerspace, and in creating an app to make leadership learning easy to access for busy women. And yet. I have struggled to not be continually concerned about the male gaze - for my business. That serves women. Yeah. I know. What the heck right? (please read the whole post before commenting) Here's why: - I didn't want to go 'too far' in critiquing current leadership as companies led by men may not purchase the app for their aspiring/current women leaders. I have purposefully built a product that can scale their investment in their next generation of women leaders - but what if they don't like me? 🙄 - I did not want to go 'too far' in critiquing the current system because I did not want to alienate potential investors, sponsors, or supporters. What if they just see me as an 'angry woman', rather than a legit business opportunity? 😳 - I did not want to go 'too far' in showing my frustration and anger about how women are treated because I did not want to alienate potential members, who may not feel the same way. What if women think I just have an 'agenda' and am not really wanting to help them? 😢 And then. This weekend, I put up a post sharing some research and my own thoughts about the biases women are facing in the workplace. And it took OFF! Check out the stats below. Here's what I found: - So many women see the inequities, are living the inequities, and are ANGRY at the inequities we are experiencing at every stage of life in the workplace. - So much amazing talent is being wasted when women are treated as if they are expendable due to the 'inconvenience' of their changing bodies. - There are alot of men that see the issues and want to make a change too. The conversation we are having is amazing. I will link to it in the comments below. And what I am really enjoying is the lack of trolls or hate comments. I was thinking about leaving Linked IN because of the behaviour here but my hope for humanity has been restored. And so has my hope for my business. The lesson for me is to be myself. That I am good enough. And that I have something valuable to offer the world, whether or not the people 'in charge' of the resources agree with me. So my coaching message has come full circle, and I thank the people that contributed to the conversation for that. Let's all go 'too far' - together! PS. Helping Women Get Promoted and Become Stand out Leaders, Whilst Staying True to Who They Are | Trailblazer 8 spaces June | DEI Report & Plan | Equity Workshop | 000's global clients | English Channel Swimmer 🧜♀️
“Is it me?” I speak to many women, incredible trailblazing women leaders who are changing the world. 🔥delivering above and beyond, time after time under relentless pressure. 🔥Winning awards and recognition for their standards, leadership or innovations. 🔥Reaching down the ladder to help others up the next rung, mentoring and sponsoring people they believe in. 🔥Being a trusted voice on the board, helping shape the strategy of the business. 🔥Giving up their own time to speak on panels, talk at events and represent their business at industry events. Yet even with this, these brilliant women come to me frustrated and disillusioned. They KNOW they have more in them and they’re ready to operate at the top. Yet they’re passed over for promotion, overlooked and paid less. Yet the heart breaking words I hear, sadly all too often are “Is it me. Am I doing something wrong?” Women leaders are not wrong, broken or needing to change. They do NOT have confidence issues, imposter syndrome and are not indecisive. Women can't TRY any harder. DO any more. And need to STOP blaming themselves. We need to consider that the game is rigged. It's not winnable. Not at the moment anyway. Essentially the corporate world is still a man's world. Even with snail paced progress, the numbers don't lie. This benefits no one. It harms men and women. Slows inclusion. And lowers share price and profit. Women leaders need to stop blaming themselves and start learning to stand out in male dominated rooms. If you’re a woman leader ready to stop blaming yourself. Doors to my women leaders community, The Trailblazers will open in April for a small group. Comment below or DM me now, with the word Trailblazers if you want me to send you some more info. 🔥🔥

The business landscape has changed rapidly over the past year, and yet the number of Fortune 500 companies with women CEOs has remained stagnant at 10.4% (https://lnkd.in/e4yAeuMw ). On a similar note, the percentage of US corporate board seats held by women has stalled at a little under 30% (https://lnkd.in/e6QcUQFe). This lack of growth and gender diversity is concerning, but not insurmountable. It simply underscores the importance of providing the tools and resources women leaders need to advance their careers. At @Chief, we’re striving to help members reach their individual leadership goals through a customizable membership experience, curated networking events and educational workshops, and hands-on support. I encourage my network to continue showing up for women leaders and hope that next year, we see more companies with women at the helm.
