WILDFIRE UPDATE: Due to wildfires in the vicinity, the Village of Ruidoso was evacuated yesterday evening. Our thoughts are with everyone in the community who is impacted by this difficult and frightening situation. Staff sheltering at Lincoln County Medical Center remain safe and have been caring for a limited number of Emergency Department patients. Other patients have been moved to another healthcare facility. Outpatient clinics are closed and appointments and non-emergency procedures have been cancelled. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will adjust our approach as needed for the safety of our employees and community members. Patients and members who need support with medications or other concerns can call our customer service center at 1-844-505-PRES (7737).

Meet Ernest “Sandy” Dunn, Presbyterian Rust Medical Center's newest volunteer. Sandy is a professional drummer who has performed all over the world and will be facilitating weekly music groups for our youngest patients and families. The playroom was definitely hopping this last week when he came to play for us -- thanks, Sandy! Looking to donate some time and talent? Local artist Lisa shared her talents of piecing together stories with ceramics, tile pieces, broken dishes, glass tesserae and shards of mirror for a recent mosaic class at Presbyterian Health Plan Place. Class members created beautiful art while building friendships; one class member was even able to use her grandmother's broken plates in her art! Join us for an upcoming activity. The behavioral health gym at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital (PKH) is getting a makeover. Thanks to contributions through the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, behavioral health patients will have additional opportunities to engage in the healing process. The gym, which is used for group and recreational therapy for patients of all ages, received new flooring, windows, lighting, sound absorption panels and furniture. All improvements were made in accordance with safety measures to meet behavioral health requirements. “We're thrilled to have this space for our patients to heal, to exercise and just to have fun," said Kate McEvoy, nursing director for the Behavioral Health and Emergency Department at PKH. “This will truly enhance the patient experience." Funding for the gym renovation came from Spirit Halloween and a gift from the estate of Mary Helen Allburt, Presbyterian's first pediatric patient in 1930. “Seeing this project come to fruition, funded entirely through philanthropic efforts, is an excellent example of how we can work together to dedicate donor funds to help heal those who need it most," said Rick Scott, president of Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation. PKH's behavioral unit is the only such unit in Albuquerque to have a full-size gym. The original gym dates back to 1970, when PKH was built.

All services, with the exception of obstetrics, surgical services/operating room and oncology, have resumed. Most clinic providers will be in place this morning, and we are prepared to operate our Ruidoso clinics in an urgent care fashion, accepting walk-ins. Thank you to the entire team for your support and efforts to bring us back online!
